Magpie Update: January 24th 2012 Junior Section Members, Parents and Associates, The 2011 Season has proven to be a great success for the Club in terms of Premierships, player development, coach development and player recruitment. I undertook the role of Junior Vice President knowing it would prove challenging. I have set my ambitions high and after 12 months I am confident these ambitions can be realised. I have also acknowledged I cannot achieve these outcomes on my own. As such I will be seeking to engage a Junior sub-Committee to support myself and our junior teams over the coming season. Nominations for Junior sub-Committee positions are being called for. The positions with the Junior sub-Committee will be involved in supporting the Junior Coaches and Managers as well as providing assistance with the organisation and administration of Junior events and commitments. The initial planning meeting will be held at the Clubrooms on Tuesday 31st January and it would be expected meetings would be held on a bi-monthly basis for the duration of the winter season. (Or as considered necessary). Please submit your interest in involvement with the 2012 Junior sub-Committee, no later than Friday 27th of January by email to:- Gary Szkolik Nominations for Junior Coaches and Team Managers are being called for. The development we have seen in all of our juniors over the previous year has been a credit to our club, coaches and managers. To stay competitive with our competition, our Club needs to ensure an ongoing, structured recruitment and development agenda for our Junior program. To help enable this, we have purchased the latest accredited program from Hockey Australia, Hook into Hockey. We also need to recognise the merits of our coaches, officials and other volunteers obtaining accreditation. Again with the assistance of Hockey SA and the Department Sport and Recreation, we are able to offer any interested member support on obtaining accreditation, whether it be as a coach or umpire. We are currently investigating coaching aides such as video capturing software and suitable hardware. With the support and culture within the Port Adelaide District Hockey Club, we feel we can ensure the role of Junior Coach or Team Manager will be a rewarding and beneficial experience to any member involved with our junior program. As TC says at every Annual Dinner, everyone should have a try at coaching. What you learn about yourself may very well surprise you. Please submit your 2012 Junior Coach or Team Manager Application, via the attached form no later than Thursday 23rd February, by email to:- Gary Szkolik Please click here to download nomination/application forms
