GLENDORA VEGETARIAN CLUB Nathan Runkel nearly twenty years ago grabbed a handheld camera, and strapped a light to his head and entered the hidden world of Ohio’s egg factory farms. Those latenight, querilla-style operations marked the beginning of mercy for Animals undercover investigations. We currently celebrate the first 50 undercover investigations from hatcheries to slaughter house auctions to egg farms, these brave investigations have uncovered atrocious abuse and brought about changes. They have flashed a spotlight onto the darkest places on earth. Over the years our tactics have become more sophisticated. The handheld cameras have been replaced by state of the art covert cameras. We no longer enter through back doors as rebels but through front doors as employees. Our investigators are highly trained, and their coverage is more extensive. Times have changed too in the early days when mercy for animals exposed live animals thrown into trash-cans or workers hitting shackled animals like punching bags, law enforcement ignored our calls for prosecutions. In recent
Bulletin Board years, law has acted immediately. Arresting animal abusers and bringing them to justice. We thank you, Nathan Runkel. The Glendora Vegetarian Club is derelict next to you. All we do is eat and talk. We do spend money furthering veganism, $10,539 these past 3 years and 9 months.
