CAPITAL REGION – Floydwarriors.com “Helping Families Cope With Cancer, One Household at a Time” is very pleased to announce its 3rd annual run of Project Easter Bunny. This Capital District wide effort was begun by floydwarriors.com founder Lisa Morahan after experiencing Easter Sunday in 2009 too ill to make one basket up for her son while in the midst of chemotherapy treatment. In 2010 enough toys and candy were collected to make up 100 baskets and in 2011, 135 baskets were made. Several area cancer organizations and hospitals caring for cancer patients will receive this year’s bounty so parents and grandparents enduring treatment will have a nice big basket to give their children Easter morning. St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

CAPITAL REGION – I came upon this local history story by chance. A soldier (un-named) was executed for desertion at Cantonment, Greenbush (now the grounds of Red Mill School) in 1814 during the War of 1812. I have a copy of an officer’s (also un-named) written witness account of the execution. It is very clear from this account the charge of desertion was wrong and, hence, the execution was wrong. I am now trying to locate records of this court martial and execution in an attempt to right this wrong and clear this man’s name of desertion. I am making progress in establishing some identities with the help of local historians. If anyone can help with information or suggestions, I would be most appreciative. I may be reached at: Phone: 518465-7938 or Email at: Ms58Edsel@aol.com. (A)

PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN (Never known to fail) Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God. Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me, herein you are my mother. Oh, Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth! I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to answer me in this necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh, show me herein you are my mother. Oh, Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee (3x). Holy Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands (3x). Holy Spirit, you who solve all problems, light all roads so that I can attain my goal, you who gave me the divine gift to forgive and forget all evil against me and that in all instances in my life you are with me. I want in this short prayer to thank you for all things as you confirm once again that I never want to be separated from you in eternal glory. Thank you for your mercy towards me and mine. Firefighters Honored

JONESVILLE – On Sunday morning, August 28, 2011, Hurricane Irene passed through Saratoga County and the Jonesville Fire Department responded to an alarm for a structure fire at 2 Tipperary Way. This alarm would be the sixth of 42 alarms the department would respond to that day. Recently, four firefighters were honored at the Jonesville Fire Department Installation Banquet for their heroic actions that day in rescuing a fellow firefighter.
