Bulletin Board Fly Tying Classes CAPITAL DISTRICT – The Capital District Fly Fishers Annual Fly Tying Class will start January 9, 2013 at the Colonie Youth Center, 1653 Central Avenue, Colonie. The first class will cover: introductions, overview of tying, tools and knots used in tying. There are 7 weeks of tying (various Wednesday evenings 7-9pm) where you will tie 5 each of 14 different flys. Course fee includes: materials for 70 flys, spiral bound tying book, proportions chart, handouts, one-on-one instruction and material raffles. Bus Trip to the Harry Potter Exhibit CAPITAL DISTRICT – Harry is Back! This is an invitation for families to join the Friends of the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library on a bus trip to NYC to see the Harry Potter Exhibit at the Times Square Discovery Center on Sat., March 23, 2013. Bus departs the CPH Library parking lot at 7:30am and will leave NYC for the trip back at 6:30pm. Cost of the trip including bus fare and the Harry Potter Exhibit admission is $73 for adults, $70 for seniors, and $67 for kids (thru college age). Or, you may choose your own activity for the day: bus fare only $50pp and $45 for Friends of the Library members. If you answered “Yes” to one of the questions above then simply must join us here at the Library on Monday, January 7 at 6pm. We’ll be hosting a demonstration on how to download Library eBooks onto your eReader! Bulletin Board Starting and Growing Your Business in Colonie COLONIE – The Town of Colonie Small Business Advisory Council, a voluntary group of citizens and business owners, is sponsoring a free community event on Wednesday, January 16 from 5:30-8:30pm at the Meeting House in the Crossings Park (off Albany-Shaker Rd.) entitled “Starting and Growing Your Business in Colonie.” Recognizing that small businesses are a major component of the Town of Colonie’s local economy, the evening is designed to assist those wanting to go into business or expand an already existing small business. Serving as a conduit for information, the evening will be made up of short presentations from approximately 15 top-notch Capital Region professionals who work to assist businesses either in their creation, financing and/or stability. Community Orchestra Begins Rehearsals DELMAR – The Delmar Community Orchestra will begin 2013 winter season rehearsals on Monday, January 7 from 7:30-9:30pm at the Bethlehem Town Hall auditorium (445 Delaware Ave., Delmar). The Orchestra, conducted by Vincent Bonafede, rehearses weekly on Monday evenings and will perform two concerts in March. New members are always welcome, and instrumentalists of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. The Orchestra is especially seeking new members in the string section. Single Parents of the Capital District CAPITAL DISTRICT – Calling single parents ages 30’s – 70’s (with young or adult children) - Parents Without Partners (PWP) meets 6:45pm, January 5, for our singles Orientation and Open House at the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center, at Clifton Commons. You are invited to meet other singles from the Capital District, Saratoga and surrounding areas.
