Bulletin Board Peaceful Acres Horses to Hold Open House CAPITAL REGION – Peaceful Acres Horses, Inc. (PAH) is having an Open House. The missions of PAH are to provide a therapeutic environment for both horses and people to resolve issues related to grief, loss and trauma, and to regain strength and trust. Fundraiser for Local Musician TROY – A Harvest Family Fun Day Fundraiser will take place 10am-4pm on Saturday, November 3, at the Redeeming Love Gospel Church, 42 Woodward Ave., (off Rt. 7, Hoosick St.) Troy. The event will raise funds for Tom Burch, a well-known local worship musician who is battling stage 3 lung cancer and facing mounting medical expenses. Activities will include an indoor tag sale, pony rides, kids’ carnival games, a silent auction, face painting, a bounce house, kids’ craft tables, a bake sale, a 50/50 drawing and so much more. Refreshments will be available for purchase. The event will also include a music extravaganza, featuring local worship bands playing throughout the day. A respected and loved musician, Burch has shared his talents at many area churches. Known for his radiant smile and upbeat attitude, he and his wife Nita have two children, George and Leigh, and two grandchildren, Michaela and Collin. Please come and enjoy a fun-filled day and raise money for a worthy cause. Christmas Boutique & Bake Sale LOUDONVILLE – Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 510 Albany Shaker Road, Loudonville will be holding a Christmas Boutique and Bake Sale on Saturday November 10 from 9am-3pm. Annual Election Day Dinner & Bazaar COHOES – United Church of Cohoes will hold their annual Election Day Dinner & Bazaar on Tuesday, November 6. Serving times: 11:30am, 4:30pm, 5:30pm & 6:30pm. Dinner menu: roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cold slaw, rolls, pumpkin and apple pies. Series of Short Plays Presented by Village Stage & Soul Rebel TROY – Village Stage and Soul Rebel are joining together to present “Short Plays for the Holidays—Sort Of”. Learn to Skate ALBANY/DELMAR – Learn to skate with the Albany Figure Skating Club’s popular Basic Skills program. This eight-week program provides ice skating instruction for beginning skaters of all ages and abilities at two locations: Albany Academy Field House, 117 Hackett Blvd., Albany, on Sundays from 12:30-2:30pm, beginning Sunday, November 4; and Bethlehem Area YMCA, 900 Delaware Ave., Delmar, on Saturdays from 12:15-3pm, beginning Saturday, November 17. Drop Off Donations of Turkeys & Hams LATHAM – On Saturday, November 17, from 10am3pm, the Sisters and volunteers at Our Lady of Hope Residence will be accepting turkeys, hams and fall candies for our residents. Franco-Americans and the French Language Today COHOES – The Franco-American Federation, Spindle City Historic Society and Friends of the Cohoes Public Library will co-sponsor a presentation by Cynthia Fox, Associate Professor of French Studies at SUNYA. Dr. Fox has done extensive research in Franco communities, including Cohoes, on spoken French language. She will describe the current situation of the French language and provide examples of some of

Cohoes Mystery Club COHOES – Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Cohoes Mystery Book Club will be meeting on November 28, the last Wednesday of the month. The selection is Carolyn Hart’s Ghost at Work, the first in the Bailey Ruth Raeburn series. Bailey is a heavenly sleuth - that is, she is dead, but wants her eternity to be useful. Seems like an unfair advantage, but still, there are rules heavenly helpers must follow. Join us November 28 for either morning (10:30am) or evening (6:30pm) meeting to discuss Bailey. Fundraiser to Benefit Amber Lynn Cerroni Hollner LATHAM – A fundraiser for Amber Lynn Cerroni Hollner is being held on November 4 from 1-5pm at Michael’s Banquet House, 1019 New Loudon Rd. (Rte. 9), Latham. Amber recently underwent major brain surgery in NYC and this event is being held to help with her medical expenses. Donation: $25 per person at the door.
