TEXAS HOLD’EM TOURNAMENT The Stephentown Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Texas Hold’em Tournament on Saturday, October 27th, in the Stephentown Fire Hall, 35 Grange Road in Stephentown, NY. The doors will open at 5:30PM and close at 6PM. Play begins at 6:15 sharp. A Free Buffet will be served at the first break and refreshments will be available. No advance registration is required, and a donation of $35.00 per player will be accepted. Players can make an additional $10.00 donation at the door for 1,000 extra chips. This tournament will pay one place for every 10 players with a minimum of four places and a maximum of 9 places. The next Texas Hold’em Tournament will be held on Sat., November 3rd, 2012. DEBRA YOUNG SEEKS TO ENSURE FAIRNESS & JUSTICE as CO. COURT JUDGE The decisions made in Rensselaer County Court affect those who live and work in the county, and Debra Young has the experience and skill needed to be a fair and effective judge. A successful trial lawyer, Young has tried cases throughout the state, including complex and expensive medical malpractice cases. She litigated the landmark litigation against tobacco companies, and brought billions of dollars back to New York to recover costs borne by taxpayers. As judge, Young will reject unreasonable plea bargain deals that jeopardize public safety and utilize innovative programs to reduce costly court delays and backlogs. She will treat all cases, big or small, fairly and equally. Young has been rated Qualified by the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission, been chosen to serve on judicial review panels, and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. Young is a partner in the Capital Region law firm Thuillez, Ford, Gold, Butler and Young. As an attorney, Young has handled criminal, civil, medical malpractice and property cases in federal, state, county and local courts, helped secure the landmark state tobacco settlement, and served as trial counsel in a number of important cases across the state. She is admitted to practice in every court in New York State, including federal courts, and to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States. Young also gained valuable experience, working as a medical researcher, helping to treat and diagnose serious illnesses while at Albany Medical Center Hospital. She has also been elected twice to serve as a member of the Schodack Town Board and is active in various community organizations. She has also been chosen to serve as attorney for the Town of Hoosick. Young has secured the Republican, Conservative and Independence nominations in her bid for Rensselaer County Court Judge. She has also received the support of the New York Rifle and Pistol Association. Her campaign received strong support with over 3,600 signatures filed to place her on the ballot. Soldiers receive new rank, new responsibilities Major General Patrick A. Murphy, The Adjutant General for the State of New York, announces the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capabilities for additional responsibility and leadership. Robert Harris from Troy, and serving with the Company C (Signal), 27th Brigade Special Troops Battalion is promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Eric Ferguson from East Greenbush, and serving with the Intelligence and Sustainment Company, 42nd Infantry Division is promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability, and development potential.
