Sheriff Mahar praised the new officers for their hard work, perseverance and positive outlook as they begin their law enforcement careers.

Hart’s Tavern bartender, played by Remy Monnay, of Watervliet, shares a secret with Silvia, played by Molly Feigenbaum of Glens Falls, in Circle Theatre Players World Premier production of “Hart’s Tavern” by local playwright/composer Diane Doring, directed by Cheryl Charbonneau, and musical director, Marietta Mitchell. Hart’s Tavern is loosely based on Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona”. The passion the young lovers feel for each other is sorely tested by infidelity, betrayal and misuse of power. Disguises and deceptions result in comic mix-ups. Can the tavern’s owners and patrons overcome these obstacles and find true love? You won’t want to miss this exciting, entertaining and sweet-sounding new show! ACHIEVEMENT NIGHT RESCHEDULED The annual Achievement Night celebration of the Rensselaer Home Bureau has been rescheduled for Thurs., June 16th, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., to be held at the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill, Main Ave. Many handmade crafts will be featured, and refreshments will be served. FAMILY FUN DAY TO BENEFIT BRUNSWICK BOY WITH CANCER The Rensselaer County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association will hold a Family Fun Day fundraiser in support of 10-year-old Alexander Holcomb, a fifth grader at Poestenkill Elementary School, who was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma. The event will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM, at the Brunswick Elk’s Lodge; 665 Brunswick Road in Troy. Ticket prices: Adults/ $15, Children ages 7-15/$5, Children under age 7/Free and Family of 5 or more /$40. Pre-Family Fun Day tickets can be purchased by calling 788-6699 or by sending your name, number attending and admission fee to: The Rensselaer County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA, PO Box 285, Cropseyville, NY 12052. All are invited to come support the Holcomb family and enjoy carnival games, a dunking tank and a Bouncy Bounce. Mike DeAngelis of Hair of the Dog, the 3FOUR3 band, and Larraoke Entertainment will provide music and entertainment. Dream Catchers will do face paintings for children and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office’s K-9 team will perform a demonstration. Raffle prizes will also be offered.
