The Christian faith and life is formed by the cross and empowered by the resurrection. At the cross, sinners are pardoned. And at the cross, wayward children are reconciled to God and to one another. As the people of God, we glory in the cross of Christ, so when it came time to choose a name for our church, it was clear: We are Cruciform Church! The cross was the centerpiece of Paul’s theology. It wasn’t merely one of Paul’s messages; it was the message. He also taught about other things, yet whatever he taught was always derived from, and related to, the foundational reality that Jesus Christ died so that sinners would be reconciled to God and forgiven by God.” C.J. #POUNDTHERCONCRETE Cruciform Church is committed to hitting our streets regularly in Gospel proclamation, demonstration, and mobilization. That's what we mean by, #poundtheconcrete. We believe that God has given us the great privilege and responsibility of joining Him on His mission in the world. Hence, we will participate in the mission of our King through holistically loving our neighbors. We'll share our resources with our neighbors, protect them from injustice, and advocate for them in our community.
#POUNDTHECONCRETE Cru's: We have groups meeting all over the South Florida region confessing sin, challenging each other with regard to spiritual growth, and convincing each other of the Gospel over and over again. Missional Rhythms: We intentionally train our people to find evangelistic pathways conducive to regular engagement with their neighbors. This begins with identifying and praying for favor in specific places throughout the city (barbershops, playgrounds, cafeterias, community centers, etc). Community Advocacy: Our hope is to be familiar with the progress and struggles of our neighbors and the city. To this end, we encourage our leaders to seek out opportunities to serve on community boards and counsels in order to keep our church informed and actively seeking the good of our neighborhoods.
#POUNDTHERCONCRETE ? Our weekly worship experience is like a hospital where the sick come in and find healing as they sit under the preached word, prayer, and songs about the majesty of Christ. That said, it isn't only a hospital but rather it's also an emergency ambulance hub where urban influencers are sent out to rescue the sick, fatally ill, and the dead. Christians who aren't on mission are weak. Mission done by people who aren't strong christians is short-sighted and often ineffective. Our worship experience is set up to re-orient, educate, and equip people with regard to the Gospel and mission.
WORSHIP EXPERIENCE WHAT'S IT LIKE? Our worship experience can be described as an urban/traditional fusion con salsa. As you enter into our gathering, you're likely to find people eating croquettes, empanadas, and drinking cafe con leche. The music playing in the background will be a mix of Christian Hip Hop, Salsa, Neo-Soul, Gospel, and CCM. During our service, you'll probably be surprised to find a traditional-ish liturgy made up of an invocation based on the Psalms, confession of sin, assurance of pardon, pastoral prayer, and expositional preaching with a lot of slang and "on the block" stories throughout. The preaching is raw, the applications are defined, and the challenge is intense.
