The Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) is a multimodal strategy that identifies transportation system improvements necessary to meet future mobility demands within the CRTPO’s jurisdiction. The CTP will create a unified and effective three county system that addresses diverse multi-modal needs that will include highway, public transportation and rail, bicycle and pedestrian elements.

THE CHARLOTTE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ORGANIZATION is an agency of local officials that oversees how transportation funds are managed and when transportation projects are constructed. Union, Iredell and Mecklenburg counties form the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization (CRTPO).

Creating a GREAT Transportation System As the region develops and the population grows, the stress on our existing transportation network will increase causing more traffic and increased travel time. The transportation network must be able to respond in order to provide travel options to a diverse population with varied needs.
