Kidz Ministry… We are aliens in this World! Kara’s Korner A Message from your Children’s Pastor— We are aliens in this world! In Kidmotion, we are starting a 6 week series entitled “Alien Kids.” The purpose of this series is to teach the kids that as Christians, we are aliens on planet earth because heaven is our real home! Because we are aliens, God requires us to act different than the rest of the world. We should be set apart, not by green skin or antennas protruding from our head, but rather by our words and actions.

I am really excited about 2010 Sports Camp “Go the Distance.” Last year, we were able to minister the Gospel of Jesus to 225 kids through sports training! Because of a gracious donation, sports camp will only cost each child $5. Each participant will receive a t-shirt, camp literature, Bible instruction, and quality sports instruction. Space is limited this year, so sign up as soon as possible. You can sign up in the Welcome Center on Sundays. Or, print a form from crossroadsokc.com and mail it in.

In the Spotlight...Spencer Barriss A love for cooking enticed Spencer to enter into the Christian Life Fellowship Chili cooking contest. Fellow friend, Robert Moore, encouraged Spencer to enter and put in his name. The requirements of the contest were to pay a $6 entry fee and try to cook the best chili. Spencer and Robert concocted the prize
winning chili recipe. So, on Friday, April 30, Spencer cleared out his family kitchen and started cooking. Spencer opened every can, chopped every onion, and simmered the beef to perfection. With only a watchful eye from his mother, Carrie, Spencer cooked the chili all alone. On Saturday, Spencer proudly delivered his chili at
10 a.m. The taste test voting began, and at the end, a decision was made. The judges decided that Spencer Logan Barriss was the best chili cooker around! Spencer won a beautiful, big silver trophy.
