Employee Forum

As seen on screen

Employee Forum reps.

Established in 2012, the Employee Forum is made up of 27 warehouse operatives, team leaders and office workers, who are all elected annually by their colleagues to make up the Employee Forum. The Forum offers an opportunity for all to have a voice and works alongside the Leadership team on site initiatives and employee welfare issues with the ultimate aim of making ASOS/Norbert Dentressangle the employer of choice in Barnsley. The Employee Forum is led by Chair Person, Terry Green (warehouse operative) and Vice Chair Person, Richard Clarke (team leader). Regular monthly meetings take place and all reps get a dedicated amount of time off each week to ensure they carry out their roles effectively. Everyone has received ACAS training and first line manager training to enable them to really make a difference to the site. From working patterns to pay negotiations, the colleague restaurant to car share spaces… 2014 is going to be a huge year for the Employee Forum which will have a positive impact on all ASOS/Norbert Dentressangle colleagues.

Red Management Red Management is a development programme for all Norbert Dentressangle managers in the UK, developed after extensive external research. The research identified that there are key skills and behaviours that are inherent in the best managers in the business – a way of doing things, a certain mindset that results in the “Norbert Dentressangle difference”. The aim of the programme is to help managers master those skills and behaviours and set the “Norbert Dentressangle difference” as the standard across the business. Red Management is a six day programme split into four modules over a three month period. Time between each module allows for attendees to apply their learning with their teams. The four modules cover the expectations of a Norbert Dentressangle manager, how managers can understand and adapt their management style, how they can communicate effectively and how they can construct and develop their team to maximum potential. Over a six month period, from January to June 2014, 150 members of the management team will undertake the training at ASOS Barnsley, a significant investment to create great leaders of the future that will drive forward the ongoing success of the business.

To date, a significant number of managers and team leaders have embarked on the programme, with great feedback: “I am finding the course excellent, it’s made me think about my strengths and weaknesses and the areas I need to address to improve.” Julie Martin (Team Leader) “I have attended many courses of this nature over the years, but this is one of the more useful ones. With some great tips, it’s a really fun way of learning.” Liz Cutts (Team Leader) “I was impressed with the style and delivery, which makes the subject interesting and informative.” John Copestake (Team Leader)
