CEO’S WELCOME We say goodbye to the first quarter of 2016 and wow, isn’t it going fast? I hope you all enjoyed Easter and you got to spend time with your family and friends. As I approach my first 6 months at the club, I would like to thank the Board, the Staff and the Members for spending time with me to talk about the club and what you would like to see. For me it is about getting the right people in the right place so we can deliver on the clubs future. The Management team along with the Board will be spending time during May to work on a strategic plan to take us into the future. Anzac Day is approaching fast and this year the club continues to honour the spirit of the Anzac with a full day of activities and remembrance of those who have fallen. Each year the Sub Branch does a wonderful job with the Dawn Service at Monro Park followed up by returning to our club for a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit. This year the club will also host breakfast on the deck with all proceeds to Homes for Heroes. The cost will be $5 for a freshly cooked egg and bacon roll. The club has secure some historic footage that we will be playing on the clubs screens throughout the day in remembrance of those who have fallen, and for the many who still walk in our community today. Lest we forget. Our very supportive Board has approved a retractable roof for the Deck. That means we can now go in to final negotiations and council applications. Next edition I will include some artists impressions of the new structure so you can see how amazing this proposed structure will be. We are currently also doing lots of work on our air conditioning systems and roofing to improve a number of problems. Both the Breakers and Sir Francis Drake rooms are currently being reviewed for a tidy up with the SFD getting a new roof. The front walkway should hopefully be resolved with our insurance in the coming weeks and you will see a great improvement. We also welcome our new Marketing Manager, Shayne O’Leary and Michael Risby, Facilities Manager to the club. Please see Shayne, Michael or myself if you have any feedback to improve our promotions, facilities and service. This month What’s On Guide is packed with exciting information and from the team at Cronulla RSL we look forward to welcoming you. You are with Friends by the Beach.
Spirit of the Shire ANZAC DAY 2016
CRONULLA RSL * 25 APRIL * OPEN FROM 6AM ANZAC Day, originally a commemoration of the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli on April 25 1915, has grown to become one of the most important national days in Australia. It is a day that has become core to the identity of this country, a day on which Australians reflect on the ANZAC spirit and its place in Australia today. Join us at Cronulla RSL as we recognise the service and sacrifice of all Australians who have served in war and on peacekeeping operations, especially those service men and women from the Shire.
