Mr Lal is taking a much earned retirement and Mrs Cole is moving onto a temporary position with an aim to retire the following year. All will be missed and we are very grateful for everything they’ve contributed to the life and success of the Academy. However, as our old friends leave we will be joined by some fabulous, experienced teachers who are coming to Cromer to take their place. We are very privileged to have joining us a great new Science team including Assistant Head Mrs Wilkinson (previously Head of Science) Mr Conlon as Curriculum Leader, a very experienced practitioner from an Outstanding school and Ms Davis. Ms Leavey will be joining us as Curriculum Leader of PE, Mr Griffith (ICT), Mrs Young (MFL), Mrs Henderson (Art) and Mr Fields ( Maths).

Exciting things are happening at the Academy as we move into the new academic year. Sadly we will be saying ‘goodbye’ to a number of our fantastic long serving staff. Mr Bestwick, Miss Pearce, Miss Baldry, Mrs Waldron & Carol Gilman will be moving on to take on new responsibilities at schools with 6th forms to provide them with wider opportunities or promotions in their areas. This is a testament to Cromer Academy who have provided the opportunity for these staff to develop their leadership skills and expertise in the classroom.

Dear All

Yr 8 Norfolk Broads Trip-Ms Burrows On 22nd May, all Year 8 students visited the Norfolk Broads as a part of their Geography syllabus, studying the impact that tourists have on the Broads. The whole year was split into two groups. The first group went on a boat trip while the others did surveys and explored Wroxham, later in the day they swapped over. Students had the opportunity to conduct traffic counts, environmental quality surveys and create land use maps in the town of Wroxham; acquiring vital skills that will help them should they take the subject at GCSE. All students went on a 2 hour river cruise along the River Bure, learning about the plants and animals that make the Broads such an important landscape. Group 2 managed to spot two Kingfishers so they were particularly pleased! Students were, as always, impeccably behaved and represented the Academy well. The standard of follow up work that students are producing has already been of exceptional quality and I’m certain that there will be some very high levels achieved.
