Houston, Texas

Westin Galleria

The Texas Minority Counsel Program (TMCP) is a CLE program and networking event that brings minority and women lawyers together with corporate legal departments and government agencies to discuss outside counsel opportunities.

Ways to participate in the 2008 TMCP: Sponsorship ■ One-On-One Networking ■ Registration ■ Networking Events

Letter From The 2008 Steering Committee Co-Chairs

Ruben C. DeLeon Law Office of Michael A. O’Neil, P.C.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of the Texas Minority Counsel Program! As Co-Chairs of this event, we wish to extend our appreciation to those organizations that have attended or sponsored past conferences. Your support has been key to the success of the program and we are looking forward to your participation again in 2008. We would also like to take this opportunity to invite organizations that have not taken part in this unique program to do so this year. Below, we have provided a brief synopsis of the program. We are confident that your sponsorship or attendance at the conference will benefit your organization.

Program Mission The mission of the Texas Minority Counsel Program (“TMCP”) is to expand and increase opportunities for minority and women attorneys who provide legal services to corporate and government clients and to expose organizations seeking outside counsel to the legal talent found in the minority and woman lawyer community.

One-On-One Networking The TMCP was formed in 1993 as an effort to bolster the amount and significance of legal work obtained by minority and women attorneys. Since its inception, the TMCP has been instrumental in enhancing the employment and economic opportunities for minority and women attorneys throughout the state of Texas. Corporate and government organizations that register for the TMCP have the opportunity to conduct one-on-one networking sessions to enhance and diversify their pool of outside counsel.

Education and Networking Another benefit of the TMCP is its CLE program. As in previous years, the program will provide over ten hours of continuing legal education credits. This includes several sessions geared specifically to the needs of corporate counsel, which have been well-received since the program’s inception. Additional activities include networking breakfasts, a welcome reception, awards ceremony, and other informal networking events, such as golf tournaments and casino parties.

Demonstrate Your Commitment We encourage you to demonstrate your commitment to diversity by sponsoring or sending a representative to the 2008 Texas Minority Counsel Program. While we welcome your monetary contributions, we urge your company to take advantage of the chance to meet minority and women attorneys who can provide outstanding legal services to your company. Take this opportunity to enhance and diversify your pool of outside counsel. Should you have any questions about the program, please contact Caren Blackwell, Director of State Bar of Texas Office of Minority Affairs at (800) 204-2222, ext. 1735 or cblackwell@texasbar.com. Sincerely,

Ruben C. DeLeon

Networking Information 6

Participating in the TMCP One-On-One Networking Sessions involves the following: 1. Pre-Selection Process To facilitate the process, corporations must pre-select the outside counsel they would like to meet. Attorneys who register for the TMCP and submit all of the necessary information by the early registration deadline will be automatically submitted to the in-house counsel representatives. Participants who submit information after the deadline will be matched only if pre-scheduled time slots are still available. Limited on-site sign-up will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Resumes will be available electronically. The individual(s) registered from your company that will be conducting the networking sessions will receive an e-mail containing instructions on how to review and download resumes of minority and women attorneys who have indicated they would like to participate. A "Networking Session Availability/Pre-Selection Form" will be sent to you via e-mail.

2. Training Session All in-house counsel involved in the one-on-one networking are encouraged to attend one of the 15-minute training sessions. The training will provide insight on how to effectively conduct one-on-one networking sessions in the time allotted. The training sessions will be held on Thursday, October 30, from 1:00 - 1:15 p.m., and on Friday, October 31, from 8:15 - 8:30 a.m.

3. Networking Sessions The One-On-One Networking Sessions will be held at the conference on Thursday, October 30, from 1:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Friday, October 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

THE VALUE OF THE TMCP “More and more large and mid-sized Texas law firms are utilizing the TMCP to invest in the professional development of their women and minority attorneys. In-house counsel wanting to see the breadth and scope of minority and women legal talent in those firms will be well-served to attend this program.” - David G. Cabrales General Counsel Office of the Governor “Bank of America is committed to diversity in its hiring of the best and brightest lawyers in the State, and the TMCP provides a means of meeting and networking with talented individuals who meet these standards. At the TMCP, talented lawyers are able to showcase their unique abilities through substantive CLE presentations, panel discussions and one-on-one interviews. What a great opportunity to match a need for talent with an available resource!” - Diane Timmons Assistant General Counsel Bank of America, N.A. “The Texas Minority Counsel Program is an excellent event that provides minority-owned law firms as well as minority and women attorneys the opportunity to build valuable relationships with corporations which support diversity. In the past five years in which I have attended the conference, I have developed friendships and numerous business contacts that still support my practice today. I plan to continue participating in TMCP each year and pledge to recruit more colleagues and friends to attend this wonderful conference.” - Andrea E. Tran Pramudji Wendt & Tran, LLP “Our firm’s association with the Texas Minority Counsel Program (“TMCP”) has provided us valuable opportunities to showcase our legal capabilities to corporate and governmental counsel as well as practitioners throughout the state. Our participation in the TMCP has allowed the firm to significantly increase our representation of corporate and governmental entities. The TMCP Conference is the premier venue for business networking and continuing legal education in Texas. Any corporation or governmental entity seeking a more inclusive cadre of outside counsel or lawyers interested in expanding their client base is doing itself a major disservice by not taking advantage of this great program.” - Andrew L. Wallace Adorno Yoss White & Wiggins

NETWORKING EVENT INFORMATION GOLF TOURNAMENT This year’s TMCP Golf Tournament will take place at the Wildcat Golf Club, which boasts two Roy Case-designed world-class 18-hole courses that offer a unique window on the Houston skyline. Wildcat rivals the country's finest private clubs and is the preferred course of Houston’s professional sports franchises. It is set amidst the highest natural land elevation in Houston. This course tumbles its way around 60 acres of lakes, and as the course winds through the waterways and lush grass, the elevation changes dramatically to provide exciting and challenging shot making. The Tournament is a 4-person scramble with a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m. Golf Registrations include: green fees, cart, unlimited range balls, valet parking & bag service, hot sandwich buffet lunch, tournament prizes, TMCP embroidered Cutter & Buck golf shirt and awards reception (hors d'oeuvres & drinks provided at the Westin Galleria after tournament).

SPA The Trellis Spa is a spectacular sanctuary that celebrates the healing, soothing and rejuvenating powers of water with a series of exquisite treatments in a tranquil setting within the 18 acre property of The Houstonian Hotel, Club & Spa. Registrants of TMCP have the option of a 50 minute massage, 50 minute facial, or a manicure & pedicure. Detailed treatment information and appointment times (to be scheduled between 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.) will be e-mailed to you before the event. Registering for the Golf Tournament or Spa Event includes food and beverage as well as admission to the Awards Reception at 6:00 p.m. at the Westin Galleria Hotel.
