SOPHIENWALD GLASSWARE (SET OF 6) $300 “Glassware for wine can be an intimidating subject for many people because there are so many options out there, and now manufacturers like Riedel are pushing for varietal specific glasses. While I do believe that some glass shapes are better for certain different grapes and styles, I would rather just have one great glass for everything. My favorite glass for celebrating is the Sophienwald Essential glass. The Essential glass is a universal glass for all types of wine made from handblown Austrian crystal that is dishwasher safe.”

POUR UP! SEPPELTSFIELD PARA 10 YEAR TAWNY $40 “For an end of the night sip, it is hard to beat a great tawny.

While most of us are familiar with the Tawny Ports of Portugal, there is also a great history of making similarly styled dessert wined in Australia. In fact, Australia was largely focused on making just dessert wines until the 1950’s!

Seppeltsfield is the most iconic producer of tawnies in Australia, with an unbroken line of vintages going back over 100 years, still in barrel in their cellar. These wines are seriously delicious by themselves or with some pecan pie, chocolate cake, blue cheese, or maybe just a piece of crispy bacon. ”

In 2020, Gregory Stokes created a wine delivery service to help raise money for the staff of Veritas during the pandemic. It grew so much that when restaurants reopened, Gregory and Josh Dalton, Chef and Owner of Veritas, decided to open a brick and mortar retail shop in downtown Columbus - Accent. The shop is a retail store and tasting room; different flights of wine are available every day for sampling while customers shop.

You can visit their boutique space between 11 am & 7 pm Tuesday - Saturday at 49 N High Street in Columbus.

LEVIATHAN 2018 RED BLEND $40

“For a nice full-bodied red for a great roast, look no further than Leviathan. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Sirah, it is made by Andy Erickson, one of the top winemakers in Napa Valley, famed for being one of the exceptional winemakers of Screaming Eagle.”

“Beaujolais is the traditional pairing to the American Thanksgiving feast, but they are delicious for almost any occasion. We are long past the days where the only wines available were cheap Beaujolais Nouveau that had to be drunk within the first couple months of purchase. Now, the region of Beaujolais are making wines that can be as compelling as a nice Pinot Noir, although they still maintain that indelible spirit of fun.

Jean Foillard is a master at striking this balance; this is the perfect wine to serve with poultry of any kind or to sip by itself when you are craving a refreshing red. ”

LAURENT-PIERRE CUVEE ROSE CHAMPAGNE $100

QUINTA ESSENTIA CHENIN BLANC $43

“Rosé wine seems to be having a moment, and I’m not mad about it. It is long overdue and to be honest, the quality of pink wines has never been better. For rosé bubbles, Laurent-Perrier’s rosé is consider the gold standard of how good rosé sparkling wines can be. It is mostly Pinot Noir and combines weight and power with finesse and elegance. It is as at home being paired with canapé as it is with a seared ribeye steak.”

“I adore Chardonnay, but sometimes I’m in the mood for something different. One of my favorite go-to’s is Quinta Essentia. Owned by the Betz family of Washington state, this South African Chenin Blanc has a beautifully rich texture and just the right amout of oak spice, without ever feeling heavy. The freshness of the wine makes it insanely versatile on the table, where it would taste amazing with fish, poultry, and any salad or vegetable dish. ”
