hosted

by

DCAC is the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the re-victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases.

WHO WE ARE

Thirty-six years ago, the Crimes Against Children Conference started with just 50 attendees! That year, two speakers –Brian Killacky, who was a detective with the Chicago Police Department, and Ken Lanning, who was a Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI – provided training to this small group of law enforcement professionals.

Since 1988, CACC has become the largest conference of its kind providing practical and best practice instruction to those fighting crimes against children and helping children heal. There were more than 5,600 professionals from around the world in attendance in 2023!

Our outstanding conference faculty provides an unmatched variety of workshops and case studies that address the most important issues faced in this line of work. CACC has established a reputation among professionals for high-quality training and great networking opportunities.

BOOKING A HOTEL ROOM

Links to negotiated room blocks for hotels are provided only to registered attendees of the conference. The links to these room blocks can be found in your registration confirmation email after you register for the conference. You may only make a reservation in one of the conference’s negotiated blocks by using the links we provide. We cannot guarantee the information you may receive if you contact the hotel directly or through their central reservations agents.

Upon registering for the conference, attendees will receive links to the negotiated hotel room blocks in the confirmation email.

The link is meant to be used by one person to make one reservation in the name under which they are registered for the conference.

The links should not be shared or used to reserve rooms for others who have not yet registered.

You must currently be registered and paid to attend the conference to reserve a room in one of the conference room blocks.

Reserving multiple reservations under one name is not permitted.

The name on your hotel reservation must match the name under which you are registered to attend the conference.

Use of links to conference room blocks are subject to the terms of use listed here as well as outlined in the terms and conditions.

Unauthorized reservations, or reservations made that disregard the terms of use, may be removed.

Attendees who will be billing to another credit card should contact the hotel and request a credit card authorization form.

Do not proceed with registration unless you are 100% sure you are approved to attend. Every registration/cancellation incurs fees for the conference. You will be subject to the conference cancellation policy and the cancellation fee if you register and then cancel your registration.

We encourage you to periodically check the Sheraton, or room links of other soldout hotels in your confirmation email, for availability due to cancellations. As cancellations occur, rooms will open up until the links close in July.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE DATES

A common issue that occurs when making hotel reservations is the arrival and departure dates entered. When entering an arrival date before August 11 or departure date after August 15, you will likely receive the message that no rooms are available. This is because our contracted room block dates begin on Sunday, August 11 and ends on Thursday, August 15. The conference ends at noon on Thursday.

Any extension beyond these dates will require you to contact the hotel directly to add the extra room nights. The conference cannot guarantee the conference rate will be offered for additional nights you may wish to add to your reservation.

HOTEL CANCELLATION POLICY

Please be sure you understand the cancellation policy for each hotel. You can be charged for one night’s stay if you do not cancel your reservation thirty (30) days prior to your arrival date.

• The Opening Plenary is Sunday afternoon from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM.

The preferred interpretation service of the Crimes Against Children Conference is Translation & Interpretation Network (TIN). If your group is seeking interpretation services for this year’s conference, please contact Rebeca Nini, VP of Business Development and Customer Relations at rnini@ tintranslation.com. Interpreters will need to be booked in advance. Interpretation services are at the cost of the requesting organization and not provided by the conference.

If you are looking to rent interpretation equipment/headsets, TIN can provide this service if requested in advance. TIN will make arrangements with you to bring the equipment to the event. We recommend you book the interpreters and equipment at least 10 days prior to the start of the conference.

The sessions are incredibly busy and it’s our desire that all attendees have a seamless conference experience. Attendees requiring interpretation services are required to utilize headsets and must sit in the back of the room in the reserved seats provided.

THE CONFERENCE HAS ATTENDEES FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD!

DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP FOR CLASSES BEFOREHAND?

During the conference there will be approximately 30 workshops operating concurrently. All workshops are firstcome, first-served. If you have your eye on a specific class, arrive early. Have back-up workshops in mind in case your first choices are full. Most workshops are repeated. Many are also offered on demand. Pictures and videos are prohibited in workshops.

NETWORKING EVENTS

Dallas Police Association

As a longstanding partner of the conference, the DPA has graciously extended its hospitality to host this event for many years. The event presents a remarkable opportunity for professionals in the child protection field to come together and network with fellow experts, advocates, and leaders. Enjoy bites, drinks and music at no cost. As the majority of the event will be held outdoors, we recommend dressing comfortably and appropriately for the Texas heat.

Conference Celebration

Keeping with our tradition, the Wednesday night conference celebration is all about honoring the remarkable work in child protection. Attendees can enjoy bites, drinks, and music during the event.

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR LUNCH BREAK

You are free to enjoy your lunch whenever it suits you. However, opting for a lunch break during the day may mean missing a workshop. We understand your eagerness to make the most of your time and attend as many sessions as possible. Don’t worry about missing out because most workshops are repeated or readily available on demand. Trust us, this works better than having 5,500+ people going to eat at the same time!

ON DEMAND

(included in registration fee) Attendees will receive access to 65+ on demand sessions, which will be available from August 11 - September 15, 2024 .

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

The dress code is casual for our event. Inside the Sheraton, it can get pretty chilly. Despite the blazing 100-degree temperatures outside, it's wise to pack some extra layers. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes because you'll be doing quite a bit of walking to and from workshops.

CAN I BRING MY CHILD?

Minors are prohibited from attending the conference. Under no circumstances are infants, toddlers, or school-aged children allowed to be in workshops. Children are not allowed to be left unattended in any area of the hotel or conference center. Please have child care arranged if your children are traveling with you.

We will have a private space located in Pearl 1 for nursing mothers to pump throughout the week. Please visit our Volunteer Lounge - Pearl 4 located on the second floor of the Sheraton Hotel for access to this room.

The final conference certificate will list all sessions and credit hours received from successfully completed session evaluations. Please see important details below to ensure you receive your final conference certificate reflecting your participation at the conference and correct number of credit hours.

Repeated sessions will each have a different unique verification code.

You must be logged into your account on the conference app or website. Accounts cannot be shared.

Substitutions: Attendees who are attending in place of another should never sign in as the other person. Make sure YOUR NAME is in the system correctly.
