WELCOME TO THE TEAM! I am so excited that you are a part of the team. This year is going to be awesome, as we experience some big wins, but it’s also going to be tough. We are going to work harder than we thought we could – but the outcomes are going to be victorious. Michael Jordan said, “I can never stop working hard. Each day I feel that I have to improve. Hard work...Determination...I gotta keep pushing myself.” We are going to push ourselves. WORK HARD. NO EXCUSES. That is our class motto and what will allow us to become the champions that we are. 1. ALL (yes, 100%) OF OUR TEAM WILL PASS THE MATH TAKS EXAM 2. WE WILL ACHIEVE AN AVERAGE OF 90% OR HIGHER ON EACH EXAM, QUIZ OR TEST! MATH TAKS: WE WILL, WE WILL…ROCK YOU! 1. BE READY: Bring all your materials to class and be ready to learn. Be in your seat when the bell rings. 2. BE RESPECTFUL: We are a team and we must respect each other and ourselves. We are all valuable parts of this team. We must treat each other like that. Teasing is not allowed. “Just kidding,” is not an excuse for teasing. We must also respect all of the equipment that is in our room. 3. BE RESPONSIBLE: Take ownership of your learning and your success. Do your homework. Bring your notebook to class. Stay on task. Take care of all your personal needs before you enter the classroom.

1. WORK HARD. NO EXCUSES. This means trying our best and giving each challenge all that we got. 2. WE GOT GAME. We are smart. We can be champions. We can achieve our big goals if we try. 3. NO SHAME IN OUR GAME. We are not born math geniuses, we have to work hard to get there. WE WILL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES. Making mistakes is part of the game, we will not be embarrassed to learn from our mistakes. 4. SITTTING ON THE BENCH IS NOT AN OPTION. We MUST work, work, work to be successful. Get out there and do it! 5. GIVE IT YOUR BEST SHOT. Your first step to success is to try your best. Class Chant (to be said daily) Today is a new day, a new beginning. It has been given to me as a new gift. I can either use it or throw it away. What I do today, affects me tomorrow. I cannot blame anyone but myself, if I do not succeed. This is my life, and I I consider each class a team. Teams will compete against one another to each rewards based on their number of Scholar Dollars. Starting week 2, we will be allowed to deposit scholar dollars into the team bank account to purchase class-wide rewards OR we can use our Scholar Dollars to buy treats for ourselves from the class store. In the future, if we work well individually, I will break each team into groups of 3-5 students and these teams will compete for extra Scholar Dollar Points.

1. All teammates did their homework 2. Great behavior! 3. Good sportsmanship 4. Staying on task 5. Answering questions 6. All teammates are there, on time

1. Poor sportsmanship: cursing, mean comments, teasing, being disrespectful 2. Incorrect uniform (dress code violation) 3. You don’t have materials (pencil, homework, etc.) for class.

1. Be on time for class. We will line up outside the classroom and then enter the class by shaking Mr. Reid’s hand and sitting SILENTLY at our desks. We will NOT talk in the classroom until we are told to do so. We will begin working on our WARM-UP. 2. We will NOT exit the class until Mr. Reid dismisses us. We will NOT move when the bell rings. If we move, we will exit last. 3. We will follow the GIVE ME FIVE countdown. When Mr. Reid says, “Where my scholars?!,” we’ll throw up a five (an open palm) and immediately.. 1. Say, “Holla! Holla!” and then remain SILENT. 2. Place all of our materials down 3. Look at Mr. Reid and listen to directions 4. Remain still until Mr. Reid says, “Scholars…go!” Our team will get 5 minutes of free time at the end of the period where we can work on homework, whisper to our teammates, and meet with Mr. Reid if we follow the Scholar countdown. Every time we do not respond correctly we lose a minute off of end-of-class free time. 4. We will raise our hand to ask questions. We will not speak out without being called on. If we repeatedly call out, we will lose points for our team. 5. We will remain in our seats until given permission to move. 6. We will sharpen our pencils BEFORE the bell rings. If we need a pencil during class, we can borrow one, but if it happens over and over, then it will cost Scholar Dollars. 7. We will turn in our homework to the homework manager at the beginning of every class. 8. Equipment Managers will get notebooks for our teammates and pass them out at the beginning class. 9. We will do our homework EVERYDAY. We will bring our homework in our folders everyday. NO EXCUSES.
