Beginning with this issue, you will learn in some very unique ways what makes this City SIZZLE for locals and people around the World! Where do locals eat? The answer to that question is everywhere! Food is readily available in Las Vegas. You can find it on almost every street and almost on every corner. It is well documented that Las Vegas is becoming known as an epicurean hotspot for even the most savvy and sophisticated diner. When I’m on vacation,

I always want to know where the “locals” go. I always ask the Concierge, the taxi driver or someone who lives in the town I’m visiting, “Where do you go to eat? What’s a really good place you like to go?” I have never gotten a “bum steer”. Locals love to share what’s good in their neck of the woods. I won’t steer you wrong

either! There are many out-of-the-way places for eating in Vegas. Beyond the street of dreams, locals eat in many of the off strip hotel buffets such as Sunset Station, Red Rock and so on. They are full of locals, so rates are extremely reasonable and quality is high since they rely on repeat business. Today I want to share

my best local buffet: Honey Salt. It’s an unusual name, but when you think about it, don’t we all like something that is a little sweet and a little salty? Their brunch is amazing! The Monkey Bread is the best tasting piece of bread I’ve ever tasted!

ver the past few years the City of Las Vegas has acquired a multitude of internationally-known celebrity chefs. Check the casinos on the Strip and you will find in residence some of the rock stars of the culinary world with names you’ll readily recognize: Emeril Lagasse, Giada, Bobby Flay, Buddy Valastro, Guy Fiero, Gordon Ramsey and the list goes on. Our City’s world-class dining culture can be attributed to the expertise and finesse of these chefs. There’s a time and a place for a meal prepared

at one of these chef’s restaurants and before you say it is an over-priced indulgence, try it; just once. These chefs are not celebrities because they

look good. They aren’t celebrities because they have a “hook-up”. They are celebrated because they really know what they are doing in the kitchen; before and after they start cooking. After dining on Guy Fieri’s burgers, I can tell you, “all burgers are not created equal”. Wolfgang Puck has changed my view of pizza and Chino Chopped Vegetable Salad forever, and Emeril makes the BEST banana cream pie ever (because I don’t like banana cream pie). THIS IS BETTER THAN WHAT?

That’s right! It’s better than hot chocolate and I can’t believe I’m saying it. Growing up in the Midwest, sipping on a cup of hot chocolate during chilly winter months has always been a quiet pleasure of mine. It goes with the territory. As a matter of fact, if you live anywhere that gets below 30 degrees, it’s generally considered a rite of passage. When the temperature drops, it is time to pick up something warm. If I am in an especially good mood, I like to add marshmallows or whipped cream. And now, I have found something to replace my sugary childhood treat! It’s called Tumeric “Golden Milk”. Not only does it taste good, but

it’s good for you. For their added anti-inflammatory benefits and to improve the taste I also add one teaspoon organic ground ginger root and one teaspoon ground cinnamon but these are totally optional. Turmeric, known for is anti-inflammatory properties and used medicinally for over 4,000 years, is excellent for arthritis, skin health, digestion, immune system, and even cancer. Recent studies have confirmed that it may be as effective as 14 different prescription drugs – without the adverse side effects.

Ingredients for Tumeric Paste: 1 cup 1/2 cup 1/3 cup 1 ½ Teas. 1 Teas. 1 Teas.

Distilled Water Organic Tumeric Root Coconut Oil Freshly Ground Black Pepper Organic Ground Ginger Root (anti-inflammatory) Ground Cinnamon (anti-inflammatory)

Instructions for Tumeric Golden Milk • Place water and turmeric in a small saucepan over medium heat. • Stir constantly until you have a thick paste, approximately 7 to 8 minutes • Remove from heat and whisk in virgin coconut oil, black pepper, ground ginger and cinnamon... • Cool and put into a glass jar. • Store in the fridge. • Lasts up to 2 weeks.
