Deep drawers provide storage space for kitchen essentials Creating the look In planning their dream kitchen the owners knew they wanted an open space for dining and entertaining, they also knew they wanted a traditional look, but “they were struggling to achieve the look they liked with the functionality they needed, in the space available”, says Robert. Working with their designer they were able to translate their ideas into reality. Their desire for a light, airy feel to the room was achieved through the use of neutral colours – on the cabinetry, the limestone

floor and handmade wall tiles. The dining table and chairs contribute to this ambiance, while the large mirror on the wall reflects light back into the room. Even the island has been designed to enhance the spaciousness and simplicity of the room – it was deliberately designed with legs to enhance the open aesthetic. Most of the furniture and fixtures were purchased specifically for the new space, with the family searching out unusual, interesting and often handmade fixtures and fittings from all over Europe, says Robert. “They have | Traditional Homes
