Prospectus 2014-2016 Build Your Future with the B-School of the Future

Akhil Shahani

MBA, Kellogg Graduate School of Management, USA Managing Director Centre For Management

Managing Director's Message How The B School of the Future Can Help Build Your Future It's a well-known fact that 79% of fresh Indian MBA graduates are not employable. Mainly because most Indian B Schools focus on imparting outdated management theories through rote learning without building industry level skills. These institutes then do mass placements in any available company, without matching the student's preferences, skills or abilities to the right job. However, most freshers do not stay in their first job for more than one or two years. They need to depend on themselves to get their second and third job. They often struggle and stay at junior levels because their college has not prepared them to succeed in the corporate world. Centre For Management breaks the pattern of these 'B Schools of the Past' by building your overall personality, skills and knowledge to make you the type of employee desired by top company recruiters. These attributes will help you succeed in your first job and in any subsequent job or business you get into throughout your career. You will quickly race ahead of your colleagues on the road to success. We ensure you achieve lifelong success through our unique “4I” system, which comprises of:  Industry Interface  International Recognition  Innovative Teaching  Individual Attention We invite you to explore the rest of this prospectus so you can learn more about this opportunity to build a successful future with the B School of the Future. Akhil Shahani Managing Director

The 4I System The 4I System ensures that our students are ready to work in a dynamic global environment. It consists of:

I. Industry Interface

Centre For Management is the most industry focused Business School in India and has won the DNA Innovative BSchool Award for Industry Academic Interface, due to innovations like:

1. Industry Guest Sessions: Almost every week, we invite a senior industry leader to interact with our students. Last year, our students were exposed to almost 50 such sessions. 2. Industry Visits: Every semester, our students visit companies to get an indepth understanding of how they operate. Past visits have included companies like Coca Cola Ltd., Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, Anand Rathi Securities, Jacky’s Electronics (Dubai), Emirates Airlines and Dubai International Financial Centre. 3. International Industry Tour: In the third semester, we take our students on an international tour to Dubai or Singapore which allows them to get a first hand understanding of how multinational companies operate in different market environments.

Berger Paints, Dubai

Coca Cola, Dubai

Emirates, Dubai

Jackys Electronics, Dubai

Dubai Chamber of Commerce

Dubai International Financial Centre

4. Corporate Mentoring: Every semester, each student is matched with an industry mentor to conduct a corporate project under their guidance. This gives them hands on experience working with various companies throughout their course. 5. Industry Partnerships: CFM has partnered with industry associations like Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Indian Angel Network (IAN), National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) and others to give our students exposure to industry via workshops, conferences and other activities. 6. Summer Internship Project (SIP): After the second semester, student undergoes 3 months internship with top companies in India. Each company gives them a strategic project to undertake, which will be utilized by them in their business. Students have done their SIP's in companies like Kotak Mahindra Bank, Onida Ltd., J. Walter Thompson (JWT), Times of India, Brand Capital, Mother Dairy, Agility Logistics, Teva Pharmaceuticals and First Medical (Saudi Arabia)

II. International Recognition

III. Innovative Teaching

CFM creates a corporate style educational environment for our students, who are treated like junior executives with all the responsibilities and targets that entails. All teaching is done by faculty with many years of real industry work experience. Our pedagogy revolves around all round personality development and is represented by the acronym ‘T.A.S.K' (Talent, Attitude, Skills, Knowledge). 1. Talent: Every student has unique strengths and weaknesses. CFM uses psychometric testing (MBTI profiles) and individual career counseling to match them to the sort of career path they will excel in. This individual career matching ensures that they do not waste time stuck in the wrong job & are more likely to achieve early success. 2. Attitude: Companies look for employees who are self-starting leaders with a professional attitude. CFM gets our students involved in many extracurricular activities like industry facing committees, career acceleration programs, live company projects etc. geared at building leadership skills 3. Skills: Written/oral communication skills & problem solving skills are the most valued skills for potential recruiters. They develop the above through involvement in class presentations, SIP, industry projects etc. We also have unique methodologies like problem based learning, storytelling, higher order skills development and others to give them the sort of capabilities needed to succeed in the corporate world. 4. Knowledge: Corporates value employees who have deep knowledge of their chosen field along with an awareness of current affairs in the business world. CFM imparts the latest knowledge derived from global industry in a practical interactive manner in its curriculum. They also get involved in classroom exercises, which depend on them researching and updating themselves on current business events.

Corporate Readiness Score ( CRS ) TM

We evaluate the capabilities of our students using CRS, which measures them along the five parameters most desired by recruiters: 1.English Communication Skills 2.Professionalism 3.Leadership 4.Problem Solving 5.Domain Knowledge Each student's CRS is shared with potential recruiters, which enables them to identify the right candidate to fill their job vacancy.

IV. Individual Attention

We are against the factory approach of other business schools. We recognize that each student is unique with skills and ambition, which are different from their classmates. Someone who is a good accountant is likely to perform badly as a salesperson and vice versa. We identify each student's unique strengths and weaknesses via psychometric testing. We then give individual counseling to each student to help them identify the ideal career path they need to take based on their personality and ambitions. This process ensures that students get into jobs they will excel at and are more likely to stay in.

Student Testimonials A student feedback survey we recently conducted resulted in 70% students rating Centre For Management as "Very Good or Excellent" and 96.5% rating us as "Good, Very Good or Excellent"

At CFM, I was attracted to 2 things - the industry exposure provided and the Corporate Readiness Score (CRS). CRS is geared towards imparting knowledge to us while tackling challenges in the industry we will work in. At the end of the day, a company sees your ability and skills more than your marks.

I had made it into Warwick Business School in the UK, but around the same time , I come across CFM while searching for BSchool’s online. I based my decision to join CFM on 2 main pillars – the Industry Connect which was really good and the brand name of “Thadomal Shahani Trust” .

Dhiren Ahuja, PGDBM Class of 2013-15

Vishesh Dalal, PGDBM Class of 2013-15

“Today, I work in the client servicing department of an advertising agency and I'm comfortable meeting a lot of people every day. When I walked into Centre For Management, I was an introvert, but I walked out with much more confidence and I’m conversing with people with ease. CFM has contributed to my career not just by teaching me academic theories, but by giving me practical knowledge.”

I joined CFM because the Thodomal Shahani Trust is Known in the corporate world. So I look forward to fruitful internships because CFM can better educate us on what the industry expects. Second was the corporate Readiness Score (CRS) – I liked the concept. It is unique.” Jeffrey Saxena, PGDBM Class of 2013-15

Natasha Pinto, PGDBM (Marketing), Class of 2011-13
