In each workshop, the kids will be introduced to new concepts and then build models using bricks, gears, axles, motors and more to illustrate the concept. Each workshop includes a custom mini-figure that the kids will create, use during the camp, and then take home! Your kids have never had so much fun learning! Please note, our supplies are reused from class to class. Students will not take home completed models as that would make our program costs unaffordable for most. * LEGO® is a registered trademark of the LEGO® Group of Companies and is not affiliated with Bricks 4 Kidz. Project DNA Egg Drop Waves & Sounds Craters & Meteorites Structural Engineering

DNA: Learn about the blue prints that make-up all living things. What is DNA and why is it so important and so useful. Then we will put on our CSI hats and extract some DNA in a hands-on experiment. Egg Drop: Learn what momentum and impulse are. We will discuss how different materials carry loads and change momentum into a force. Then in honor of Nation Engineering week using different materials we will build our own safety capsules to protect an egg that we will drop test. Waves and Sound: Discover what a wave is and how this relates to sound. We will experiment with different kinds of waves on a wave machine. We will also build our own devices to see sound waves and learn how to “see” with sound waves. Craters & Meteorites: Learn about what killed the dinosaurs, Meteorites. We will explore what happens when a meteorite hits an object like the Earth or the Moon and creates a crater. Then in a hands-on experiment we will learn how scientist can study a crater and estimate how big the meteorite was that created it. Structural Engineering: Learn why engineers use the shapes they do when designing buildings, bridges and other structures. We will take what we have learned and build structures using only paper and tape to support objects many times heavier than the paper www.vandaliareccenter.com
