18th June, 2013 Reflection Do you want to know what goes on in the heart of the Trinity? I will tell you. In the heart of the Trinity the Father laughs and gives birth to the Son. The Son laughs back at the Father and gives birth to the Spirit. The whole Trinity laughs and gives birth to us. When God laughs at the soul and the soul laughs back at God, the persons of the Trinity are begotten. When the Father laughs at the Son and the Son laughs back at the Father, that laughter gives pleasure, that pleasure gives joy, that joy gives love, and that is the Holy Spirit. (Meister Eckhart)
Term 2 Review
As we enter the last two weeks of Term 2, I thought it appropriate to reflect on the activities and events that we as a CRC Community have experienced this term. Our 2013 Peter Pan Production rehearsals have been taking place and excitement is building for our performances in Term 3. The dedication of the students and staff to rehearsals after school, on weekends and during the upcoming holidays is outstanding and bodes well for fantastic performances in July. Term 2 provided many sporting highlights. We were well represented in the Year 9 Premier League finals with our girl’s Netball team just being edged out in the Grand Final. Our College House Athletics Carnival produced some excellent performances with Blue House winning the championship. In Cross Country the College enjoyed great success winning the Overall and Senior competitions against the other SACCSS schools. Our female Junior Football team won the SACCSS competition. Finally, we wish our senior boys and girls all the best as they compete in Football and Netball Finals next week. This year, our students had the opportunity to participate in Cheerleading and Aerobics competitions. These events took place over many weekends providing great experience and some well-deserved results. As part of our Social Justice commitments, students across a range of year levels have been involved with community projects such as blood donations, assisting with soup vans, and supporting local community members with disabilities. CRC students also competed in debating and National and State Competitions in subject based areas. I thank all students who took the opportunity to be involved in our Extra-Curricula program and the teachers who gave their time to coach, assist, mentor and support.
Our revised Mid-Year Exam program this year incorporated Year 7 and Year 8 students. The availability of our new Year 10 Centre for exams at both Year 10 and Year 9 enabled both year levels to hold exams as a total group and to experience senior school exam conditions. Our VCE Exam centre was used by Year 11’s for their exams and our Year 12 students (and those Year 11’s doing a Unit 3-4 study) for the three hour General Achievement Test (GAT). We trust that all students worked to their potential and will receive the grades that they deserve. Year 10 City Experience Next week is our Year 10 City Experience Program. With the amount of planning and preparation that has gone into this event, I am sure all our Year 10 students will not only enjoy the week but learn new skills and develop more self-confidence and resilience. Semester One Reports Finally, next week’s newsletter will be mailed home. This is to ensure all families receive a copy, as it will contain information on accessing Semester One Reports. Reports will only be available through the Parent Portal during the break with paper copies to be mailed home at the end of the first week back in Term 3. End of Term 2 Classes conclude next Friday June 28th at 2.30pm. John Christie Acting Principal

Michael Hill Woolworths Earn & Learn Program As you may know, our school has been participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn program. The program has now finished for this year, so a big thanks to everyone who supported our school. We’re now at the important stage of the program where Points Sheets are collected and lodged as our Earn & Learn claim. We will then be able to get new educational equipment for our school. The more we collect, the more we can redeem. So this week please return your Woolworths Earn & Learn Points Sheets and any loose Earn & Learn Points Stickers you may have to student reception. Remember to check your handbag, the car glove box or they maybe stuck on the fridge. Every little bit helps. Thanks again for all of your support! Lauren Prout Science Coordinator

On Monday the 13th May, the Year 7 & 8 girls football team accompanied by Miss Wright and a group of helpful boys: Jai Whitehand, Jeremy Sebastian, Jake Thompson, Boden Mugridge, Ryan Agius and Sam Rogan competed in the Junior Girls AFL Round Robin for 2013. We headed off to Salesian College for our first match. We easily dominated 3 out of 4 games, in one of our games we had one too many on the field and our teams points were taken off. We stayed strong, and came back in the end and won and got through to the semi-finals. We then faced our toughest match, Mackillop, who had been undefeated in the 4 matches they had played. We came together as a team and ended up defeating them and advancing into the grand final. We were faced with playing St Monica’s. It was a tough game, but Miss Wright’s great team encouragement got us through. In the end, we broke a lead, and had a convincing win by 2 goals. One of our great players, Ruby Ancrum, won the MVP for the grand final match. Our captains for the day, Chloe Galakos, Telia Coverdale and Amy Garofalo pulled us through with great team spirit, and lead the team into taking home the pennant.
