SQC International consultants – Kuwait (July 2018- Aug 2020) Position– Site Architect

Project: Kuwait cancer center project –( KCC) – KUWAIT. Kuwait cancer center is a state of the art medical facility commissioned by Ministry of health, which entails the expansion of the existing cancer centre. Kuwait Cancer Center is the largest cancer hospital in the MENA region and the second largest in the world, equipped with more than 618 beds and most modern healthcare facilities. The Cancer Center provides Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Surgical and Intensive Care Units. Additional facilities include a Physical Therapy Educational Facilities and an auditorium.

Additionally the 69500 SQ M site also includes multistory car park building with 1300 car parking facility, Nutrition and a laundry facility. The design redefines the standard of hospital design and provides the patients, staff, and visitors with a new vision of medical care. SQC international consultants are appointed as construction supervision consultants of the project.

To assist resident engineer & senior architect to review the contractor’s submittals consisting of, material submittals, method statements, pre-qualifications, mock-ups, shop drawings, as built drawings, Inspection requests (IR).

To review and check all project drawings to ensure standardization, compliance of the design as specified, and accuracy, before issuing to the Chief Architect , technical coordinator and resident engineers for the final check print and signature.

Review of shop drawings and co-ordinate with other trades such as civil/structural and MEP , Update Quantity surveyor on work progress To review CDR (Daily report ) and keep track of contractor work progress on daily basis.

Review of materials samples and data (MD) and inspect material delivery (MDN) to site to comply with contract requirements.

Onsite inspection of construction activity as per IR’s received. Direct inspections of construction operations by contractors and to ensure that it is in compliance with the approved shop drawings, method statement and project specifications.

To perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements of design components within project area, visit site to ensure compliance with specifications, approve quality of materials and work, and advise contractors including procurement and project management teams throughout the construction of the project.

Observe construction projects at all stages to identify problems and take timely action to resolve problems encountered.

Periodic visit to sites to identify discrepancies and defects on works. To check if the architectural finish works are as per contract specification and quality required.

To identify Snags and prepare snag list /defect list to be handed over to the contractor for rectifications that has to be done on site. Documentation of site work by using photography to identify snags and as reference for the contractors to clear all defects. Thorough follow up with contractors /subcontractors and to ensure that the work is carried out to achieve optimal quality. Site inspections to ensure that all snags are cleared before site handover.

Liaising with contractors and subcontractors to ensure work progress is as per assured quality and as per design intent and contract requirements.

To send and receive transmittals and prints through the Document Controller To advise the Document Controller on additional documents to be recorded (such as client approvals) To maintain digital files including archiving and backing up files.

To maintain a thorough project record, including all client approvals, and all drawings and related documents to a project.

Projects: jaypee Sports City, Greater Noida, India “Jaypee Sports City”, located about 35 miles south of New Delhi, is being developed around the Buddh International Circuit which hosted the Inaugural Indian GP in 2011 as part of the Formula 1 season. The Master plan for the city was envisioned by SOM. Thereafter Peter Ellis New Cities was contracted to carry forward the project through the Concept Design phase.
