Celeste Greig Elected President of the CRA Only the 5th Woman to Lead CRA in Organization’s 75-Year History

At an historic meeting of the CRA Board of Directors, Celeste Greig was unanimously elected President of the California Republican Assembly, on Saturday, March 27, 2010, becoming only the fifth woman to lead the volunteer organization in its 75-year history. This was an historic meet- CRA President Celeste Greig ing for CRA due to an opening created for the first time ever when a sitting President became a candidate for public office. Immediate Past President Ken Mettler’s position as President became open upon his filing as a candidate for the Republican nomination for the 32nd State Assembly, which is in the Kern County area where Mettler lives. Under CRA’s By-Laws, upon Mettler filing his candidacy papers, his seat was automatically vacated. “I’m grateful for the vote of confidence from the CRA Board of Directors in electing me their President,” noted Celeste. “It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of previous leaders and Presidents who have led CRA for 75 years in what President Ronald Reagan called ‘the conscience of the Republican Party.’” In a display of unity, after Celeste Greig was nominated for the position, all of the other Vice Presidents deferred to Ms. Greig, and Vice President Pete Weber, the currently longest serving Vice President, moved that nominations be closed. The Board unanimously elected Vice President Celeste Greig as its new President. President Greig stated, “I intend to build upon the solid foundation Past President Ken Mettler has laid.” A longtime Republican activist, Celeste Greig has served CRA in many offices over the years, including as a Unit President, a State Senate Director and a Vice President. In addition, she has served on the Board of Directors of the State Republican Party.

Taking the Lead... For over 75 years CRA has taken the lead on major issues affecting us – whether at the national, state, county or municipal level. We shall continue to lead by keeping those people we send to Washington or Sacramento accountable – we shall continue to keep our scorecards on them. We s h o u l d also make sure our candidates know that they win when they keep their promises. It is okay sometimes to compromise on ideas but NEVER on principles – that will bring success at the ballot box. We have a big challenge this year. We can take Congress back if we work hard to elect constitutional candidates who put God, family and country first. Now more than ever the Conservative movement is rocking, we have great candidates running for office in our state and nationwide who espouse our principles. Let’s support them with contributions

and encourage others to do the same. Let’s increase our Republican voter registration and the Bounty rewards for our Units. Let’s increase our membership. And of course, we must join together on Saturday, October 9, 2010 to rally in Phoenix, Arizona as we proclaim CRA’s

unwavering support to the brave and courageous Governor Jan Brewer, her state and her constituents. “We CAN reverse the damage that has been done to our nation. We CAN reverse the damage done to our values. But we can only succeed together.” ~ Congressman Tom McClintock. As your President I promise to dedicate my energies and passion for the Conservative Movement to the benefit of CRA.

No Mosque at Ground Zero One of our biggest mistakes in the aftermath of 9/11 was naming our response to the attacks “the war on terror” instead of accurately identifying radical Islamists (and the underlying ideology of radical Islamism) as the target of our campaign. This mistake has led to endless confusion about the nature of the ideological and material threat facing the civilized world and the scale of the response that is appropriate. Radical Islamism is more than simply a religious belief. It is a comprehensive political, economic, and religious movement that seeks to impose sharia--Islamic law--upon all aspects of global society. Many Muslims see sharia as simply a reference point for their personal code of conduct. They recognize the distinction between their personal beliefs and the laws that govern all people of all faiths. For the radical Islamist, however, this distinction does not exist. Radical Islamists see politics and religion as inseparable in a way it is difficult for Americans to understand. Radical Islamists assert sharia’s supremacy over the freely legislated laws and values of the countries they live in and see it as their sacred duty to achieve this

totalitarian supremacy in practice. Some radical Islamists use terrorism as a tactic to impose sharia but others use nonviolent methods--a cultural, political, and legal jihad that seeks the same totalitarian goal even while claiming to repudiate violence. Thus, the term “war on terrorism”

is far too narrow a framework in which to think about the war in which we are engaged against the radical Islamists. Sharia and Western Civilization Sharia law is used in many Muslim countries to justify shocking acts of barbarity including stoning, the execution of homosexuals, and the subjugation of women. Sharia does not permit freedom of conscience; it prohibits Muslims from renouncing their Islamic faith or converting to another religion. Sharia does not support religious liberty; it treats non-Muslims as inferior and does not accord them the

same protections as Muslims. In these and other instances, sharia is explicitly at odds with core American and Western values. It is an explicit repudiation of freedom of conscience and religious liberty as well as the premise that citizens are equal under the law. Thus, the radical Islamist effort to impose sharia worldwide is a direct threat to all those who believe in the freedoms maintained by our constitutional system. Creeping Sharia in the United States In some ways, it speaks of the goodness of America that we have had such difficulty coming to grips with the challenge of radical Islamists. It is our very commitment to religious liberty that makes us uncomfortable with defining our enemies in a way that appears linked with religious belief. However, America’s commitment to religious liberty has given radical Islamists a potent rhetorical weapon in their pursuit of sharia supremacy. In a deliberately

dishonest campaign exploiting our belief in religious liberty, radical Islamists are actively engaged in a public relations campaign to try and browbeat and guilt Americans (and other Western countries) to accept the imposition of sharia in certain communities, no matter how deeply sharia law is in conflict with the protections afforded by the civil law and the democratic values undergirding our constitutional system. The problem of creeping sharia is most visibly on display in France and in the United Kingdom, where there are Muslim enclaves in which the police have surrendered authority and sharia reigns. However, worrisome cases are starting to emerge in the United States that show sharia is coming here. Andy McCarthy’s writings, including his new book The Grand Jihad, have been invaluable in tracking instances in which the American government and major public institutions have been unwilling to assert the protections of American law and American values over sharia’s religious code. Some examples include: In June 2009, a New Jersey state judge rejected an allegation that a Muslim man See Ground Zero, page 5

The Fine Line Between Politics, Subversion Do you think a political party that seeks to dismantle, ignore or discard a nation’s constitution should be permitted to participate in the electoral process? It is a question that has been asked before in other countries and is still being asked today. When communist parties, sworn to revolutionar y change, competed in elect i o ns a ro u n d the world in previous decades, there were often real fears that upon taking power they would do away with future elections. The same fear has abounded in elections in nations where radical Islam is on the ascendancy. And today in Germany the federal office in charge of protecting the nation’s constitution is keeping leaders of the so-called “Left Party” under surveillance – a decision affirmed this week by the courts. The court found that the far-left party included people with “unconstitutional intentions.” Germany’s domestic intelligence service issued a report saying “there are still many indicators for left-wing extremism in the party. Those are in particular the unclear stance toward left-wing extremist violence and the open acceptance of extremist alliances among its own members.” The extremist alliances referred to are the “Communist Platform” and the “Marxist Forum” within the Left Party. All of this raises an interesting question in my mind: Is it time for Americans to consider such alliances and allegiances within the Democratic Party? If you think this question is not relevant here, you probably haven’t read the New York Times best-seller “Manchurian President.” Increasingly in recent years, the Democrats have embraced Marxist positions, Communist allies, extremist support and anti-constitutional policies. If now is not the time for such a debate, when will that time be? Let’s be honest: Democrats talk openly today about the Constitution being a living document – subject to completely new interpretations based on nothing more substantive than their own imaginations.

In Massachusetts this month, legislators voted to override the U.S. Constitution’s provision for the Electoral College to choose the president of the United States in favor of a popular vote. You can argue, of course, that there are legal provisions for amending the Constitution, but you can’t argue that the founders weren’t dead-set

against direct democracy and that the Electoral College provision was an intentional barrier to it. State attorneys general across the country are preparing challenges to Obamacare because they can’t find any constitutional justification for it – not a hint. The notion of constitutionally limited government is practically unknown to the ruling party in both the House and Senate – and certainly to Barack Obama. Elena Kagan, a Supreme Court nominee, lied flagrantly in Senate confirmation hearings about her own role in shaping Bill Clinton’s policies on partial-birth abortion procedures. Specifically, in advising Clinton on his veto of a partial-birth abortion ban in 1997, Kagan issued a memo citing a key American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists statement as “the most reliable opinion” on the medical necessity of partialbirth abortion. That same statement was relied upon by both the president and the Supreme Court in justifying opposition to the partial-birth abortion ban. When asked during her confirmation hearings about any possible, undue influence over the content of the organization statement,

Kagan testified that “there was no way in which I would have or could have intervened with (the College) … to get it to change its medical views on the question.” Far from not “intervening,” however, the released memos and other evidence show Kagan directly rewrote a critical portion of its statement to contradict the organization’s expert panel and shape its findings. Meanwhile, Obama’s associations – from Bill Ayers to Jeremiah Wright to Van Jones and dozens of others – make the links of Germany’s Left Party leaders look like Boy Scouts by comparison. There are some 80 members of the House of Representatives who are current or former members of the Progressive Caucus, formerly the euphemism for the Democratic Socialists of America caucus. They include Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House. I once dubbed this group Congress’ Red Army Caucus because of its flair for emulating their friends in the Soviet Union. When I first exposed this caucus and its connections with the Democratic Socialists of America in 1998, I excerpted some songs from the latter’s website: They included “The Internationale,” the worldwide anthem of Communism and socialism, and “Red Revolution,” sung to the tune of “Red Robin.” Here are the lyrics for that little ditty: “When the Red Revolution brings its solution along, along, there’ll be no more lootin’ when we start shootin’ that Wall Street throng. ...” Then there

was the memorable old ballad, “Are You Sleeping, Bourgeoisie?” Never heard that one? You haven’t been in the congressional Progressive Caucus, lately, I guess: “Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping? Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie. And when the revolution comes, We’ll kill you all with knives and guns, Bourgeoisie, Bourgeoisie.” Not surprisingly, shortly after I wrote about this, the song list vanished. But did the intent of those involved change? Has the Democratic Party crossed the line from politics to subversion? Is there any loyalty standard left in American politics? Should all candidates running for federal office be required to swear allegiance to the Constitution as a minimal standard? Does America need a politically independent security agency to keep tabs on enemies of the state trying to take over the state? The Democrats’ War on the West

Ground Zero

“Why do they hate us?” It’s a burning question on the minds of border-dwelling taxpayers, small-business owners, farmers, and Rocky Mountain oil and gas industry workers suffering under punitive Democrat policies. Eighteen months into the Barack Obama administration, the war on the American West is in full swing. The first battlefront: immigration. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats rejected a GOP amendment banning the use of federal funds to participate in any litigation against the new Arizona immigration enforcement law. “Our federal government should be doing its job to secure our borders rather than trying to bully and intimidate the people of Arizona,” argued Republican amendment sponsor Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina. “We should not be suing and really hassling the people of Arizona for doing what we should be doing here, and that’s protecting the citizenry.” All but five Senate Democrats (Indiana’s Evan Bayh took a pass and didn’t vote) sided with the anti-Arizona Obama administration -- and against not only a majority of Arizonans, but a majority of Americans who support the state’s effort to restore order on the chaotic southern border and protect American workers facing doubledigit unemployment. Several House Democrats have actively lobbied to boycott Arizona and crush its economy -- most notably, southern Arizona’s own Democrat Rep. Raul Grijalva, who urged civic, religious and political groups to take their convention dollars elsewhere. “Do not do business with this state,” Grijalva told open-borders zealots bent on punishing law-abiding citizens to “send a message.” For its part, the Obama Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division has targeted Maricopa County, Ariz., Sheriff Joe Arpaio for more than a year over his strict enforcement policies against illegal alien criminals. The hell-bent Civil Rights Division is helmed by veteran illegal immigration advocate Thomas Perez, who has lobbied for driver’s licenses, in-state tuition discounts and blanket amnesty for millions of border-jumpers, visa overstayers and deportation fugitives. Arizona’s neighbor to the north, Utah, is under fire by a different set of left-wing bureaucrats. When Interior Secretary Ken Salazar isn’t busy destroying jobs through his radical offshore drilling moratorium,

who punished his wife with pain for hours and then raped her repeatedly was guilty of criminal sexual assault, citing his religious beliefs as proof that he did not believe he was acting in a criminal matter. “This court believes that he was operating under his belief that it is, as the husband, his desire to have sex when and whether he wanted to, was something that was consistent with his practices and it was something that was not prohibited.” Thankfully, this ruling was reversed in an appellate court. In May 2008, a disabled student at a public college being assisted by a dog was threatened by Muslim members of the student body, who were reluctant to touch the animal by the prescription of sharia. The school, St. Cloud State, chose not to engage the Muslim community, but simply gave the student credit without actually fulfilling the class hours so as to avoid conflict. In a similar instance in November 2009, a high school senior in Owatonna, Minn., was suspended in order to protect him from the threat of violence by radical Islamists when he wrote an essay about the special privileges afforded his Somali Muslim counterparts in the school environment. In order to accommodate sharia’s prohibition of interest payments in financial transactions, the state of Minnesota buys homes from realtors and re-sells them to Muslims at an up-front price. It is simply not the function of government to use tax money to create financial transactions that correspond to a religious code. Moreover, it is a strategy to create a precedent for legal recognition of sharia within U.S. law. Amazingly, there are strong allegations that the United States now owns the largest provider of sharia financing in the world: AIG. Last month, police in Dearborn, Mich., which has a large Muslim population, arrested Christian missionaries for handing out copies of the Gospel of St. John on charges of “disturbing the peace.” They were doing so on a public street outside an Arab festival in a way that is completely permissible by law, but, of course, forbidden by sharia’s rules on proselytizing. This is a clear case of freedom of speech and the exercise of religious freedom being sacrificed in deference to sharia’s intolerance against the preaching of religions other than Islam. Shockingly, sharia honor killings-in which Muslim women are murdered by their husbands, brothers or other male family members for dishonoring their family-are also on the rise in America but do not receive national attention because they are considered “domestic distur-

he’s been blocking onshore development and wreaking havoc on the Beehive State’s energy industry. Last week, Salazar defended pulling 77 oil lease contracts granted in the final days of the George W. Bush administration. Salazar’s inspector general concluded that there was no evidence of any rush to auction off the parcels -- as baselessly claimed

by environmental groups and Salazar himself. In fact, the leases were granted only after seven full years of rigorous study and debate. That makes two Salazar job-destroying bans based off bogus eco-claims. (Remember: Loathsome cowboy Salazar was behind the shameless doctoring of a scientific report to bolster the Obama administration’s devastating offshore drilling ban.) Uintah County, Utah, officials have sued the Interior Department over the rescinded leases, which have cost the state untold millions of dollars and countless jobs in a tough economy. Not to mention the court expenses, legal morass and regulatory uncertainty. Other Western states are reeling as a result of the Democrats’ eco-radicalism -- and the rest of America is paying a high price, too. Salazar was a leading opponent of oil shale development when he served in the U.S. Senate for Colorado. There are an estimated 800 billion barrels of recoverable oil shale in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming alone -- enough to potentially free us from Saudi oil dependence. Yet as Obama’s interior secretary, Salazar has wielded his power to halt plans to lease oil shale rights in the West. In addition, Obama’s Bureau of Land Management is dragging its feet on more than $100 million in unissued oil and gas leases in Wyoming. These resources remain untapped thanks to militant greenies who pay lip service to energy independence while blocking all practical means of achieving it. At a partisan rally on Monday to crusade for endless unemployment insurance benefits extensions, President Obama lectured Republicans to “stop holding workers hostage to politics.” Speak for yourself, pal. Page 5 bances.” (A recent article in Marie Claire Magazine highlights recent cases and the efforts to bring national attention to this horrifying trend.) Cases like this will become all the more common as radical Islamists grow more and more aggressive in the United States. It is in this context that the controversy over the proposed mosque near Ground Zero must be seen. Exposing Radical Islamist Hypocrisy at Ground Zero There are many reasons to doubt the stated intentions of Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man behind the Ground Zero mosque. After 9/11 he did not hesitate to condemn the United States as an “accessory” to the attacks but more recently refused to condemn Hamas as a terrorist organization. This is unsurprising considering he has well-established ties to U.S. branches of the Muslim Brotherhood. He has also refused to reveal the sources of funding for the mosque project, which is projected to cost $100 million. More importantly, he is an apologist for sharia supremacy. In a recent op-ed, Rauf actually compared sharia law with the Declaration of Independence. This isn’t mere dishonesty; it is an Orwellian attempt to cause moral confusion about the nature of radical Islamism. The true intentions of Rauf are also revealed by the name initially proposed for the Ground Zero mosque--”Cordoba House”--which is named for a city in Spain where a conquering Muslim army replaced a church with a mosque. This name is a very direct historical indication that the Ground Zero mosque is all about conquest and thus an assertion of Islamist triumphalism which we should not tolerate. They say they’re interfaith, but they didn’t propose the building of a mosque, church and synagogue. Instead they proposed a 13-story mosque and community center that will extol the glories of Islamic tolerance for people of other faiths, all while overlooking the site where radical Islamists killed almost 3,000 people in a shocking act of hatred. Building this structure on the edge of the battlefield created by radical Islamists is not a celebration of religious pluralism and mutual tolerance; it is a political statement of shocking arrogance and hypocrisy. We need to have the moral courage to denounce it. It is simply grotesque to erect a mosque at the site of the most visible and powerful symbol of the horrible consequences of radical Islamist ideology. Wellmeaning Muslims, with common human sensitivity to the victims’ families, realize they have plenty of other places to gather and worship. But for radical Islamists, the mosque would become an icon of triumph, See Gingrich, page 8

Lungren: Tibet Provides a Cautionary Tale A threat is a communicated intent to inflict harm or loss on another. Unlike the many physical threats that mankind has engineered over the centuries to project individual, tribal or national dominance, the cyberthreat relies on a new medium — cyberspace. Cyberspace is the interdependent network of information technology infrastructures, including telecommunications networks, computer systems and the Internet. Jobs Must Be Put First A Fresno businessman, Alan Jurkonis, moved his company to Minden, Nevada last year because he said operating in California was like “death by a thousand cuts.” For Mr. Jurkosis, it was far cheaper to ship his product from Nevada to Southern California than from Fresno to Southern California. Between contradicting regulations, the highest tax rate in the country, and a slow economy, its no wonder why long time California businesses, such as Mr. Jurkonis’ company, are leaving in droves. Right now, doing business in California is slow torture. Over 2.2 million residents are unemployed. That’s 12.3% of California’s population. Hard working citizens are struggling to make ends meet and over 141,000 Californians have been forced out of the state in search of employment. These are tough times for Californians. But my Republican colleagues and I are not ready to give up on California yet. We have

a new vision for restoring the luster of our Golden State. California is home to our nation’s brightest minds and vast natural resources. If we could just get government out of the way long enough, the free market would

prosper. How can we get California back on the road to prosperity? There is only one answer: private sector job creation. Lawmakers must do everything in their power in 2010 to lessen the regulatory burden on California businesses and provide incentives for them to hire new employees and bring much needed jobs to our Golden State. For example, I have introduced AB 2278 to give research and development tax credits to high-tech companies in California. This is a critical incentive for San Diego’s world renowned biotech industry, allowing for the creation of new high-quality jobs to

California can’t afford to let more employers like Alan Jurkonis’ company or San Diego’s biotech companies take their businesses to other states. Business friendlier states like Nevada have done everything they can to encourage California companies to move, stopping just short of buying their one-way tickets to sin-city. Unfortunately, the Democrat Leadership continues to kill the Golden Goose. Senate Pro-Tem Darrell Steinberg pro-

posed that the state spend more money, adding to our already outrageously overspent budget, on public sector jobs. More government intervention is not the solution to California’s job crisis. The principles of free market economics are what have always made our state strong. Our state needs more private sector jobs. That will be the only way out of this mess. encouraging them in their challenge to our civilization. Apologists for radical Islamist hypocrisy are trying to argue that we have to allow the construction of this mosque in order to prove America’s commitment to religious liberty. They say this despite the fact that there are already over 100 mosques in New York City. In fact, they’re partially correctthis is a test of our commitment to religious liberty. It is a test to see if we have the resolve to face down an ideology that aims to destroy religious liberty in America, and every other freedom we hold dear. Newt Gingrich is well-known as the architect of the “Contract with America” that led the Republican Party to victory in 1994 by capturing the majority in the U.S. House for the first time in forty years. Newt is Chairman of the Gingrich Group and he serves as General Chairman of American Solutions for Winning the Future (

On Saturday evening, CRA celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a black-tie Gala Banquet, featuring James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, who gained national fame when they

conducted a series of undercover recordings at ACORN offices all across the country, ultimately leading Congress to terminate all of ACORN’s federal funding. They were presented with CRA’s much coveted Ronald Reagan Freedom Fighter Award, which in the past has been presented to President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft, Sen. Phil Gramm, Pat Robertson and many others. Delegates also had the chance to watch a special video presentation, produced by Publications Committee Chair Jeff Evans, which chronicled the history of CRA from 1935 to today. After the gala dinner, the first ever CRA Conservative Youth Celebration was held with DJ

and dancing until midnight (many CRA veterans outlasted the numerous Young Republicans who participated in the event). Sunday, the last day of the Convention, began with the Prayer Breakfast, which featured some amazing Praise & Worship music with the Steve Merrick Band, followed by Pastor Gary Zeleski, who gave a rousing spiritual wake up call in his address. Finally, the Sunday General Session featured the endorsement vote for statewide candidates, as well as CRA VP elections. Delegates and guests left the Convention on Sunday afternoon with a renewed sense of pride in CRA, cherishing the many memories of what truly was an unforgettable Convention.

legitimate sources. GhostNet computers can also search and download specific files, as well as secretly operate attached devices, including microphones and webcameras. GhOst RAT is also being spread through commercial Internet access accounts located on the island of Hainan. The discovery of GhostNet is a gripping reminder of the serious cyberthreat that we face in our digital world. It demonstrates the ease of introduction and the reach of computer-based malware and how it can be used to build an extensive low-cost intelligence capability. It also demonstrates

the potential cyberthreat to U.S. critical infrastructure (power grid, dams, telecommunications and transportation), which often operates on digital control systems. The cyberthreat is real, and we must bring greater urgency to securing our critical infrastructure from this growing cyberexploitation. Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.) is the ranking member on the Homeland Securit y Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity and Science and Technology.

What We Believe Inalienable Rights: We believe that man’s “rights” flow

from the Creator and the rights of life, liberty, and justice cannot be legitimately granted or rescinded by men. Judeo-Christian Foundation: We believe in the guiding force of moral law as expressed by the Judeo-Christian ethic and contained in the Holy Scriptures of these historic faiths. Self-Government: We believe that the only answer to the current moral decline that our nation now faces is a return to the beliefs and standards of morality which our founding fathers placed into the Constitution. We believe with the framers of that document when President Adams stated, “This Constitution will not work except with a religious people.” We understand that the concept of self-government begins with governing one’s self first, then family, community, state, and nation. Education: We believe in the rights of parents to a quality education for their children. We support parental choice to create competition among the schools. We must insure that no school or teachers union can compromise the education of our children or advance a particular political agenda at the expense of our future generation’s educations. Decentralized Government: We believe in the power of the individual over the power of the state. We believe that only small government truly serves the needs of the people. Taxes: We believe that the federal tax system is abusive to the American people while discouraging investment and growth. We believe in growth-oriented tax policies which would gradually eliminate punitive income taxes and move our tax system in the direction of use taxes and sales taxes only. Sanctity of Life: We believe that the preborn child is a human being deserving the full protection of the law. National Defense: We believe in a strong and consistent national defense. We believe in victory over, and not accommodation with, tyranny in any form or philosophy. Free Enterprise: We believe in the free enterprise system as the best hope for men and women to fulfill their economic hopes and dreams. We know that the free market is the most efficient and the least costly system to deliver the highest quality goods and services at the lowest price to the consumer. We will support only those who support the free enterprise system through legislation to reduce or eliminate intrusive government intervention in the marketplace. Family: We believe that the traditional American family, defined as any persons related by blood, marriage of a man and a woman and/or adoption, is the cornerstone of our American society, and the government is duty bound to protect the integrity of the family unit through legislation and taxation policies. Right to Bear Arms: We believe in the unqualified right of our citizens to keep and bear arms without the intrusive hand of government. Victims’ Rights: We believe in the concept of victims’ rights over the rights of any criminal. We support a system of restitution as a deterrent to crime and recidivism. Term Limitation: We believe that public service is a privilege. We support term limits for public officials, not as an ideal but as a necessity to dissuade career politicians. It is the people who should rule, not an elite with little accountability. National Sovereignty: We believe in an America first program in which Government’s first concern is the welfare and protection of the American people. We support political leaders who will adopt policies that create fair and competitive trade.

Since 1934, the California Republican Assembly – CRA – has been working to elect Republican candidates who stand unwaveringly for Republican principles. As California’s oldest and most influential volunteer Republican organization, CRA’s endorsement is a coveted privilege for those candidates who meet our high standards — conservative, principled, electable and the overwhelming choice of our membership. When CRA endorses a candidate, we are committing volunteers, resources and our reputation. This is what President Reagan had to say about CRA:

“The best symbol of the grassroots worker I can think of is the California Republican Assembly ... CRA provides the nucleus of the Republican candidate’s volunteer work brigade. I know from personal experience. It’s hard to imagine my campaigns being anywhere near as successful as they were without the dedication of CRA’s members. I urge you to join CRA today.”
