-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------My magazine is based on the older versions of the famous NME magazine, I chose this iconic magazine because I feel I could relate to it and I feel it was the most appropriate choice I could make. From my planning you can see I looked carefully at the way they used there centre image background and caption to show what type of artist/band the person was. And I feel my centre image shows that the female artist is from an urban background. I followed the usual conventions of a magazine however my double page spread has an unusual layout which personally I find intriguing and found out of the three pages I could play with the most and challenge conventions. I use the usual conventions on all my work, ranging from the Mast Head to the Fine Print in the barcode. I did add an electric barcode that all smart-phones will be able to read and that will link the user to a subscription/offers page. It is aimed at a young rock fan base audience. Using the social identity theory I was able to take all the usual conventions of NME magazine and use them in my magazine to attract the audience, for example the house style is bright but has that dark essence common in music magazines of a rock genre. Also the images from my magazine have an after edit or have a lighting design that appeared when taking the pictures, this is something that I found a younger audience would find appealing however I think a rock fan of any age will find visually appealing. also the media product features young up and coming bands that will get advertising and therefore do not need to be paid or endorsed, this also makes the magazine appeal to a younger audience. IPC would be the company I would approach to publish my magazine because it publishes other magazine like NME and KERRANG and therefore would understand my magazine more and would find it more appealing and eel more passionate about it rather then other competitive publishing companies, also being a international company the exposure is endless and if my magazine was popular it could be published to other countries and many languages.


The stories I used and the bold sharp colours will attract my audience as they can relate to these issues and stories and the colours are bright and ‘youthful’ I learnt how to replicate the colours of the house style across different Photoshop windows, this was something I have done before but using a very complex method, after using You Tube to watch a tutorial I was able to click a colour cloning tool and easily just click on an existing colour on the page, which would be cloned. Because I have retaken the coursework aspect of AS I feel I have improved significantly and this time around took more thought into other magazine techniques and incorporating them into mine, this one something I found enlightening and if I was to do it again I would do it even better, I found my magazine had that professional look you expect but still has the ‘ That’s new, and interesting’.
