Victoria Dock Church brings

Messy Church

. Who is it for? Messy Church is designed for families, particularly those with primary school aged children. · It is an all age service where everyone is valued equally. · It provides an informal environment for all ages to explore & experience faith & worship through crafts, food & celebration. · It describes each & every one of us as no one is perfect & each of us leads messy lives for many reasons. · It invites us to come together – making things together, eating together and celebrating together. What can I expect? When you arrive there is a choice of about 6 craft activities which feed into the theme of the celebration. After about 30-40 mins there is a short time of celebration and then food – nothing fancy just a simple tea time snack & a drink before you leave. Sounds fun – where & when? We have 3 planned for 2012. They will all take place in the Village Hall from 4pm until about 5.30pm on the following dates (doors open at 3.50pm):· 13th May – The Creation Story · 30th September – Life with Noah · 2nd December – Messy Christmas All children must be accompanied by an

adult. Watch out for the posters & flyers and we're also on the website and on Facebook.

Flowers in the park The parks and gardens department makes a good effort at keeping the area looking good for all of us to use. Unfortunately I often see kids walking to and from school being allowed to trample the flowers by the edge of the path, they are also allowed to pick flowers at the road side. I know majority of kids are good but its the few that do the damage. The flowers are for all of us to enjoy, please watch what your children do as they walk along.

Winding House Plant Sale and Swop Saturday 7th April 2012 10am to 2 p.m. Easter is traditionally the time when people get out into the garden and make a start on the borders and tubs. It is a good time to buy new plants and if you have grown any plants then you can also swop them. Best of all, our event will be held outside the Winding House and if you have been wondering what was happening then come along and have a look inside. Refreshments will be available too. Finally yes it is Easter so there will be an Easter Bonnet parade for children. Judging at 1 p.m. Prizes!!

The Big Jubilee Lunch - coming to the park near you.... The Big Jubilee Lunch is part of the main programme of events over the Diamond Jubilee weekend. The aim is to get as many people as possible to have lunch with their neighbours in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. We don’t want to miss out on Victoria Dock, so the Village Hall Committee and the Church are organising a BIG PICNIC in the Park.

When?

Sunday 3rd June, 2012 from 12.30-2.30pm

Where?

The park next to the Village Hall

What do I need to bring?

A picnic, a rug, deckchairs, garden games & your family & friends.

What do I need to wear?

Either dress up from one of the last 6 decades (as the Queen has ruled since 1952) or wear red, white or blue (or all three)

Will there be any activities put on?

There will be some simple games for the children (if you could help out with this please let us know) and a treasure hunt, other than that we are hoping you’ll bring your garden games.

What else do I need to do?

We want to make our own bunting. There is a template on www.thebiglunch.com/documents/BuntingTemplate-Jubilee LOW_000.pdf and you can either choose jazzy material or plain material and decorate it. There will be a box in the Village Hall to drop your bunting off and the deadline is 23rd May so we can get the bunting ready to hang round the park on 3rd June. PAGE 3
