Business promotions Etisalat Business Solutions has announced attractive promotions. Beginning during GITEX, most of these will continue till the year end, offering a lucrative opportunity to businesses to subscribe to these services. From a business connectivity perspective, Etisalat is offering a one month rental waiver for its Xpress Connect service. The Xpress Connect service provides a scalable Layer 2 Ethernet VPN service with Point -to-Point and point to multi-point connectivity. This promotion is valid for one month. For Global IPVPN all new subscriptions on A end and B end will be eligible for a 15% discount on the UAE transfer port price only for a period of 3 months. Etisalat is also offering a one month rental waiver for its IP Connect service. The service provides a scalable Layer 3 Ethernet VPN service with any to any connectivity, validity of promotion is one month. Also,
during Gitex, the IP Connect service will be made available to existing customers with more bandwidth but at the same price, effectively valid for three months. Etisalat is also offering savings on its BusinessOne Super and My Business Plan packages. New customers subscribing for BusinessOne Super can enjoy discounted rental for the first three months, and existing BusinessOne Super customers can avail more bandwidth at the same cost for three months. Etisalat is also offering attractive cash back of AED 125 on My Business Plan activations. From a Business Messaging perspective, Etisalat is waiving off the one time installation charges worth AED 3,000 for its interactive QuickServe service. Based on USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Services Data) platform, QuickServe is an ‘instant messaging type’ phone service that allows a customer to initiate
and access information from any mobile handset by typing a simple star-hash (*#) command. This promotion is valid for one month. Besides this, Etisalat is also waiving off the one time connection fee of AED 5,000 and one month rental of AED 2,400 for its value SMS service. Businesses subscribing for Value SMS service in the next one month will be able to take up this offer. For Managed Services, Etisalat is also waiving one time installation charges for Managed WAN Service and Managed Remote access service that can be availed by customers till the end of the year and January 8, 2012, respectively. Etisalat is also launching a ”90 days free subscription” promotion on its Shared Web Hosting service, targeting SMB and Consumers. Subscribers will be entitled to additional three months subscription at no extra cost after signing tan annual contract.

What are the key trends we can expect in the next two years? There are several technologies gaining momentum in the ICT industry. Smart phones are one example, enabling users to not only communicate in more effective ways, such as over the Internet through Wi-Fi and mobile broadband access, but also to allow them many other functionalities to enhance their personal lifestyles such as acting as a portable media player and file storage device. Tablet PCS are also on the list of key trends, since they are so unbelievably convenient to use. Cloud computing seems to develop some hype as well, due to the great services.
Masahiko Murata, future General Manager of Kyocera MITA Middle East, gives an initial impression of the region as he prepares to take over. You have had a taste of the region already. What is your impression so far? Well, I have been able to witness how very important teamwork and communication are especially in this region. It’s almost as if the region is one big network. A lot of information is being exchanged on a daily basis. Working together closely as a team is crucial here. I am ready to embrace that, all the more so as it ties in perfectly with our corporate philosophy. Dr Inamori encourages partnership as well as transparent management. Is there anything else that you have observed? I can see an enormous business potential in this area. The Kingdom of
Saudi Arabia offers a lot of possibilities, as do Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait. And when the economy of the UAE recovers – and I believe it will – there will definitely be many opportunities for our business. What is very interesting to observe is the similarities between Japanese and Middle Eastern cultures. With all due respect for the differences within the region itself, I can see some important common elements. Both in my home country and here, people approach one another with respect, regardless of the other person’s age or position. Middle East. What are your plans? It’s a role I am proud and honoured to fulfil and various important tasks await me. What I plan to do first of all is to roll out the KYOCERA Sales Excellence (KSE) methodology. This method is based on a customercentric, so-called pain-based approach. It focuses on solving a
customer’s critical issues, which are referred to as their pain, rather than on trying to sell them a product. The KSE methodology breaks down the sales process into phases and lays down a number of steps that have to be completed in each phase. One of the many merits of this methodology is that it lends an explicit, well-defined structure to a process that for many has so far been intuitive and undefined. Also, the steps that have to be followed for each phase encourage mutual agreement between seller and buyer to be documented at each step so that both parties know exactly where they stand. It is possible to apply this methodology to all sales, even to tenders.
