Linksys is utilising GITEX Technology Week to promote its new range of WiFi networks to enhance user experience of wireless connectivity. Amanulla Khan, Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Linksys, explained how the company - which was acquired by
Belkin in 2013 - has grown by 65 percent in the past year, “despite the current consensus that the market is flat.” He said, “Just last year, the company celebrated selling its hundred-millionth router. This year, we have worked in collaboration with research agencies, such as IDC, to distinguish what it is that customers really require and expect from their wireless connectivity experience. The results demonstrated that when asked ‘what can you not live with out?’, the second most popular answer was WiFi.” The survey findings have led to the launch of the next generation, WRT 3200 router at this years GITEX. Equipped with MU-MIO technology, this new router can
handle “seamless connections” of up to 8 devices at the same time. Linksys has also recently launched its ‘Range Extension’ technology. “Customers expressed that they wanted to utilise their network connection at various locations in their home, but when moving too far away from the router, the performance wasn’t good enough,” said Khan. “This new technology allows high performance at the edge of the network, and enhances seamless roaming from room-to-room.” Stationed at a stand almost twice the size of the company’s booth last year, the company has had a “very successful week” at the event so far, according to Khan. “We strongly believe in GITEX, and we use it as a platform to share our
product roadmap with existing and potential partners, so that they know what to expect from Linksys over the next twelve months,” he said. “We have been actively looking to engage with potential distributors across the region, and GITEX is a great opportunity for us to connect with these prospects.” He added, “Getting feedback from customers and partners during GITEX is also vitally important for us.
