he celebration of Christmas has now come and gone for yet another year. Children are playing with toys and electronic games, and the older ones are enjoying their new clothes and cashing in the gift cards which are now so desirable. Others are waiting for the yearly after-Christmas sales which are so popular with both buyers and sellers. But there is one more item left on our agendas – the obligatory “New year’s Resolutions”. It seems that most of us resolve to do this or that in the coming year so that life will be much better. However, there is sometimes not quite enough “Resolve” in our plans to carry us through to success. Are we really setting a goal, or just wishing? Author Brian Tracy, says it this way: “Our ability to set goals, make plans, and take action on them, determines the course of our lives”. A goal (or resolution) without a plan for its accomplishment, within a specific time limit, is nothing more than a wish. You’ve probably heard the saying, “If we keep doing things the same way, we will continue to get the same results”. I, for one, want to get different results with some of my wishes this next year, and perhaps you do too, so let’s try this together. A goal must be clear and it must be in writing A goal must have a specific, organized plan for its accomplishment A goal must have a time set for it’s completion There is one other ingredient which must be mixed into the formula. Unless action is taken at the proper time, the above is no more than a slogan to be framed and hung on the wall with little or no results. A goal (or
Let’s try using this approach in 2011. We are not guaranteed to fully reach all our goals this way, however, we will certainly have a much better chance. We can drift toward what we want to accomplish, or we can paddle in a predetermined direction. I’m going shopping for a paddle next week, what about you?
resolution) without a plan for its accomplishment, within a specific time limit, is nothing more than a wish.”

Coweta Arts Tidbits The Successor To Newnan-Coweta Arts Council News Releases Composed By: Forrest W. Schultz 770-583-3258 firstname.lastname@example.org
Publishing Boom By Coweta Authors Continues: 17 Books Published in 2010; Total For 21st Century Climbs To 107 The widespread economic depression has not slowed the boom in the publishing of books written by Coweta County authors. In fact, the rate appears to be increasing. A record high of 17 books were published in 2010, topping the previous annual high of 16 books set in 2008. 2010 is the fifth year in a row that the publishing rate has averaged over one book per month, an enormous amount for a county with such a small population size. The total number of books by Coweta authors published in the 21st century (2001 thru 2010) has now climbed to 107! And the future looks bright. The Coweta Writers Group reports that it has twelve unpublished members now seriously working on their first book (or books), some of which are almost ready for publication. And many of the already published Coweta authors are planning more. For instance, Mae Nunn, who recently won a Carol Award, began in 2010 to publish two books per year instead of one, which she can do now that she has retired from her job. Carla Cook Smith, who has published five of her Perspectives books during the past two years plans to continue this series into the near future. Dr. Alton Midgett, Sr., who published his first two books last year, has several more in the works. Bart Gibson is working on another novel, and other already published writers have more coming up. To top it off, Tamala Callaway, who had the first book in her fantasy Super Natural quintology published last year, already has the other four books written and plans to release them all at once, instead of the usual one per year rate favored by most authors and publishers! If this continues it will not be long before the average book publication rate will be two per month!
Newnan Community Theatre Company announces auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Auditions will be held on Wednesday, January 12 and Thursday, January 13 from 6pm to 9pm in the evening and will take place at Newnan Community Theatre Company (24 1st Avenue, Newnan, GA 30263.) This will be a production of the original version of Cinderella and will be directed by Jennifer Dorrell, have Music Direction by Becky Clark, and be choreographed by Mandy Mitchell.
The Armchair Gardener
Arbor Day will soon be here. Now is a good time to plant new trees. Trees are the bones of a garden, along with hardscaping and shrubs. Here in Coweta County, we can grow a large variety of evergreen and deciduous trees. Landscaping with trees can provide beauty, shade, wind protection, screening, fragrance, color, flowers, fruits, cones, and exfoliating bark, as well as interesting branch shapes and winter structure.
Production dates will be March 17th-27th.
There are trees to suit every type of landscape. Evergreen trees can be broad-leafed, needled, or even tall slender columns. Trees are well adapted to a variety of soil PH. Some tolerate dry conditions; some prefer shade or understory sites; others like full sun; and a few even enjoy moist soils.
Children ages 5 to 13 should come between 6 and 7 either night and be prepared with a song. Please bring sheet music – an accompianist will be provided. Everyone will be asked to learn a short piece of choreography, so wear comfortable clothes!
Evergreen and deciduous trees are available in large or small mature sizes depending upon type and variety. Heights can vary greatly depending on type and variety. Think carefully.
Adults (high school age on up!) should come between 7 and 9 either night. Bring a prepared piece of music (16 to 32 bars) - accompianist provided. Choreography will be taught so wear comfortable clothing - ladies wear character shoes if you have them - waltzing in heels required! There will also be cold reading from the script. All roles are available. Cinderella Prince Christopher King Maximillian Queen Constantina Stepmother Portia (stepsister) Joy (stepsister) Godmother Herald Chef Steward Townspeople, Guests at the Ball, Servants For more information please visit newnantheatre. org or if you have questions please email the director (Jennifer Dorrell) at email@example.com. 24 1st Avenue, Newnan, GA 30263
When selecting trees to buy, visit the local library, plant nurseries, and garden groups to learn as much as possible about all the many choices; or contact the extension service. Armed with knowledge and a landscape plan, decide what types of trees to purchase. Trees are available bare-root, balled and burlapped, or container-grown. Root-pruned trees have a greater chance of adapting successfully. Bare-root trees should be planted when dormant and wellsoaked first. Balled and burlapped trees should have non-biodegradable materials removed. Container-grown trees can be planted most any time if well watered. For every one inch of trunk - allow one foot of root ball and soil. The planting hole should be at least twice - maybe three or four times - the tree roots (and soil, if any) size. Water in well and plant a little high. Water is most important the first year.

Bill Stemberger Approximately 6,000 people will be injured in a Georgia trucking accident every year. The National Transportation Safety Administration conducted a study of causes of accidents involving large trucks. This study concluded that there were three (3) main critical events that cause truck wrecks:
Used Tires Huge Selection! $ 3745 entry
We Buy Junk Cars, Aluminum Wheels We Buy & Recyle Appliances, Aluminum Cans, Copper, etc.
Factors that contribute to the above include badly maintained trucks, unsafe operation by the driver, inexperienced drivers, mechanical failure, and truck driver fatigue. Overloaded trucks are another cause of traffic collisions that make driving, controlling and breaking a truck even more difficult. There are crucial differences between trucking cases and other motor vehicle collision cases. Interstate trucking is governed by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. These rules and regulations are much more complex than those for automobiles. Among the differences is the ability to directly involve the trucking insurance company in the legal action. When involved in a trucking accident, it is important to scrutinize such areas as the hiring process, safety reviews, maintenance inspections, the number of hours the driver can drive safely, and alcohol or drug testing. As with other wrecks, you can and should be fairly compensated for any injuries. Remember, time is of the essence when it comes to collecting all the information needed to successfully recover your damages. If you have been in a truck or auto accident, and you have questions or concerns, please give us a call and we will be glad to help you. Put on your “Buying Eyes” It sounds like a song, doesn’t it? However, every home seller needs to … put on their buying eyes. How do you do this? Begin at the curb. If you were a buyer, what would you see? A nicely manicured lawn that looks as if it has been carefully tended or unruly flower beds, un-finished projects or children’s toys scattered all over the lawn? Now, walk through your front door. Most home owners seldom do this. Are there cobwebs all around the light fixtures and front door? Check the door bell ringer. It’s often broken and most owners don’t know it, because they never use the front door. Once in the entrance area, what do you see as a “buyer”? Is every room that you can see from the front entrance, a different color? What grabs your attention? What gives a feeling of home? Stand in the doorway of each room and ask yourself, how do you think a buyer will feel about this room? Will they be distracted by your collections, personal photos and decor? Is the room dark or light and bright? Will a buyer see dated furniture, fixtures and accessories? Neat and organized sellers are viewed as taking care of a home. The opposite is also true. Old and dated furnishings in a new home still make the home appear dated. As a seller, it’s easy to ask, why can’t a buyer see beyond my furniture and possessions? The truth is that only 10% of buyers can see past current home owners decor and visualize what the space could be like for them. That means that 90% CAN NOT see beyond the owners decor and condition of the house. They CAN NOT imagine living in this space, because they are distracted by the sellers personal taste and belongings. As a seller, you need to decorate for a buyer and it can be difficult to be objective about marketing your property. A good home stager can help you disassociate yourself from your home and see it from the eyes of a potential buyer. So, put on your “buying eyes” or
