This book relates the history and genealogy of the Paregien Family from 1816 to 1940. It was first published in 2020 as both a paperback and an eBook through the Amazon platform. It also includes the history of the Paregine, Peargin, and Pearigen Lines. These folks were certainly related, but adopted and maintained the variant spellings. The story begins near Bowling Green, Kentucky when Jacob Mac Paregien was born in 1816. Later, on a US Census record in about 1840, he said his mother was from South Carolina and his father was from northern Ireland. Two of his sons, William and James Alexander Paregien (my great-grandfather) fought on the side of the Union in the Civil War. My father was Harold Paregien and his parents were Frank and Mattie (Nolan) Paregien. My mother was Evelyn Cauthen and her parents were John Whitehead Cauthen and Vada Walters (daughter of Lewis Walters and Fanny McDaniel Walters). The families were centered in Illinois, Arkansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, California and Texas.
