The 10th Cavalry and the rest of the Buffalo Soldiers played a large part in the Spanish-American War, in particular, the Battle of San Juan Hill. The 9th and 10th Cavalries with the 24th Infantry fought alongside the 1st Volunteer Cavalry (the Rough Riders) led by Theodore Roosevelt. It is widely recognized as the most integrated battle force of the 19th century. This booklet includes images of the various companies and portraits of various officers including West Point graduates Henry Ossian Flipper, John H. Alexander, and Charles Young.
