Summer is quickly approaching, and that means many of our college students will be headed back to our area. Our goal is to provide them with their own space to study the bible, ask questions, and discuss with one another the issues that they care about on a deeper level. This is something that I am particularly passionate about, due to my own experiences teaching in a university setting. College students are hungry for depth and authenticity. Many of them long for a safe space to wrestle with tough questions. So, I am excited to announce that we will be offering a bible study geared specifically towards our college students and young adults during the late spring and summer months. More details to come in the following weeks. Jonathan Sparks-Franklin, Director of Ministries

An Easter Encore As you are reading this, most likely we are gearing up for or just completed the celebration of Easter Sunday, 2018! Throughout this Lenten season, many of you have taken up the challenge of trying to follow Jesus more intentionally. Whether you have participated in one of our four Lenten small groups, signed up to participate in our 24 hour Disciple Prayer during Holy Week, or served in a new capacity through one of our various ministries I have been encouraged and inspired by so many of you. My prayer is that all of the things that God has been teaching you over the past several months will continue to blossom into growth and vitality in your walk with the Lord. Much like the “lull” after the Christmas season, there is often a “lull” in the life of the church after the celebrations of Easter Sunday come to an end. Church folks often refer to the Sunday after Easter as a “low Sunday.” It is often low in energy and low in attendance. This is a shame, because according to the Christian calendar, our Easter celebration should be continuing until Sunday, May 20 when we celebrate Pentecost. The foundation of our gospel, the message of hope that Easter brings, should not be limited to one Sunday a year! So, to kick off our continued celebration of the resurrection, on April 8, the Second Sunday of Easter, we will be having a pulpit swap and Easter Encore service! Michael Isaacs, (pictured) a friend and colleague of mine from our Presbytery, also happens to be the Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Middletown. He will be preaching the Word here at CPC, while I head over to his pulpit and preach the Word at First Pres in Middletown. I encourage you to come on out for worship on Sunday, April 8. Let’s squash the old stereotype of the Sunday after Easter being a “low Sunday,” and as we continue into the month of April, I’m praying our faith community will keep proclaiming the hope of the resurrection and the message of the gospel with the same excitement and joy that we have on Easter Sunday! In Christ,

Pastor Sarah
