Please view your e-invite here if you haven't received one in the post yet: www.coventry-artspace.co.uk/christmasinvite.jpg -----------------------------------------------------MAKING MOVES ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SHARING EVENT - War Memorial Park Visitors Centre, Kenilworth Road, Coventry, 10:30am - 12:30pm Textile and Mixed Media Artist Gizella K Warburton invites you to a sharing event to celebrate the results of a residency at the War Memorial Park Visitors Centre in Coventry. On Tuesday 13th December from 10.30-12.30pm, you can see the work created during the artist’s residency by the Friends of Memorial Park groups including young people and veterans as well as members of staff and the public in a small exhibition at the Visitors Centre. Gizella’s residency has taken place as part of the Making Moves II programme; a craft development initiative spanning the West Midlands which has created 9 regional residencies in unusual locations, graduate placement opportunities and participatory events for the public including a touring exhibition. The artist, Coventry’s Graduate Placement Sandra Owens and some of the participants will come together to celebrate their achievements with the public and visitors to War Memorial Park. Following the sharing event, Gizella will be commissioned to produce a new art work which will be included in the regional touring Making Moves II exhibition in 2012. Elements of the display will continue to be exhibited in the Visitors Centre until the New Year. This project is the first of a series of Artist in Residence projects people can get involved in at War Memorial Park, supported by Coventry City Council and the BIG and Heritage Lottery Funds from the Parks for People programme. MAKING MOVES RESIDENT ARTIST AND GRADUATE PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITIES th Glasshouse Studio, Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa - deadline 16 December 2011 Warwick District Council and Coventry University are seeking an experienced designer maker or artist whose work has a strong resonance with contemporary craft for a residency in Leamington Spa as part of the Arts Council funded Making Moves project. The residency will take place in The Glasshouse Studio attached to the Temperate House in Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa’s centrally situated historic pleasure gardens. The residency will start in January/February 2012 and be completed by April 2012. Inspiration for the residency comes from the unique, captivating & sometimes hidden (hi)stories both past & present that have contributed to the culture & heritage of Leamington Spa & its diverse communities, and we are especially interested in artists whose work stretches conventional thinking and making. FUEL PRESENTS; RING AT WARWICK ARTS CENTRE Ring Conceived and directed by David Rosenberg, Written by Glen Neath Sound by Ben and Max Ringham Fri 16 Dec, 2pm Helen Martin Studio, Warwick Arts Centre, FREE You are invited to a meeting. It is a secret meeting. Ring is a new project by writer David Rosenberg (Electric Hotel, co-founder of Shunt), writer Glen Neath (author of The Outgoing Man, and Romcom by Rotozaza) and producer Fuel (Kursk, The Summer House). It is a sound journey in complete darkness in which the audience, wearing headphones, imagine themselves to be the protagonist in the unfolding narrative.
