We placed the incubator space on the ground floor with access to the warehouse and the corporate office and foundations office upstairs. Our client had a budget in mind, but wouldn’t tell us what it was until the end, so as not to hinder any creativity.

The design directive was for a “stunningly perfect”, highly flexible yet seamless contemporary environment that evokes an Apple Store feeling. Partnering with my Design Director, I developed the palette, finishes, custom millwork details, construction documentation and some furniture selection. In the spring of 2010, this space one a Calibre Award for “Best office under 15,000 sqft”.

C O N C E P T I M AG ES “NATURALLY MODERN- WITH A TWIST” FLORAL MOTIF
ICIS / alliance residential LUXURY APARTMENT AMENITY SPACES / Glendale, CA 10,000 sqft Our clients at Alliance Residential take a unique and creative approach to developing their properties. They liken themselves more to a boutique hotel than a traditional apartment complex and require that their designers supply them with a certain number of “tickles”, or special experiences to those traveling through the property.
WATER FEATURE CONCEPT
We were partnered with TCA Architects who were designing and building the shell and we were assigned to design all interiors for the amenity spaces, which includes the offices, lounge, gym, bar, game room and dining room and will eventually be designing, furnishing and accessorizing the model apartments. The expected completion of this project will be spring 2011 and my responsibilities within this project from Fall 2010 to early summer 2011 included design development, finish and lighting specifications, design presentations and construction documentation. The directive Alliance gave me and my co-designer was “Naturally Modern” but with a twist.

They host many guest speakers and distinguished professionals in their various fields and it was important to have a space that is warm, welcoming and sophisticated.

kho & patel A C C O U N T I N G O F F I C E / Sa n D i m a s , C A 9,600 sqft Kho & Patel is forward thinking accounting firm that had a very nondescript, traditional office previously, but wanted more of a “wow” factor as they worked on re-branding. Communication is key to their culture and they have weekly “all hands” lunch meetings and wanted an open office to foster communication. They wanted a new contemporary image that was black and white with little color. RECEPTION

Southern California edison OFFICE / Rosemead, CA 255,850 sqft Southern California Edison has offices expanding over several large campuses. This four story campus, “GO-5, houses the Human Relations, Marketing and some environmental departments, so in designing the space, we addressed their brand and many of the achievements and progress Edison has made to the company and community. Edison had just completed a 2-binder standards manual so there were very rigid guidelines in designing the space, with little freedom in finishes and even space planning.

Instead, I took opportunities for more graphic statements to affirm the brand and create something unique to this office. The main feature being an ascending density of vintage glass insulators that I repurposed as light sculptures, backlit by LED. We had to create undulating access panels which directed that design and our insulator source ran out of the types we needed so I spent a weekend at flea markets and antique stores to aquire the rest. The elevator shaft is visible from all four floors at the atrium level so this provided a solution for a strong continuous element. In such a large floorplate there were many K-Braces which we had to address for ADA purposes and decided to make them a feature. I was teamed with our Design Director on this project and developed the Insulator Feature Wall as well as some other graphics, finish plans and construction documents and administration. This project was completed in Late Spring 2011.

TRC Solutions is a national engineering, consulting and construction management firm specializing integrated services to the energy, environmental and infrastructure markets. They teach companies how to be more environmentally efficient and while this was a very low budget build-out and they couldn’t afford to try for LEED certification, we still implemented responsible features with reusing and relocating as much as possible, including millwork, specifying low VOC sealants and materials that meet LEED standards.
RECEPTION CONCEPT SKETCH
Most guest travelling through the office will be pursuing environmental efficiency so they wanted it it “look green” with the reclaimed wood and bamboo flooring and graphic colors and future marketing and decal information to adorn the central core. completed summer 2010.

Courtney & NOAH MET AT A COWBOY BAR .
IT WAS AN UNLIKELY PLACE FOR THESE TWO TO MEET AND EVEN MORE UNLIKELY TIMING BECAUSE NOAH WAS MOVING BACK HOME TO OREGON IN 2 WEEKS, AFTER BEING STATIONED IN SAN DIEGO FOR 4 YEARS IN THE U.S. MARINE CORPS.
But ... as luck would have it :
MEANWHILE, Courtney was on a weekend trip to go line dancing for a friend’s birthday party 63 miles from home. Early in the evening, this l o ve ly b r u n e t t e
Noah, who wanted to go to a motorcycle show that night, lost a coin toss to his brother and wound u p a t t h a t b a r.
approached this tattooed Marine (who was actually talking to a few of her friend’s), and intending to steal a friend to dance, she ended up stealing his full attention.
STANDARD INTRO TURNED TO HOURS OF TALKING AND A LITTLE SLOW DANCING another guy stole courtney for a dance so noah knew he better act quickly. shortly after she exited the dance floor:
before leaving that night...
Date No. 1 a big success and only 2 weeks to go, Noah trucked the 91 miles round-trip nearly everyday to Irvine to see Courtney before making the 1,018 mile trip back to Oregon.

WITHOUT MUCH OF A STRATEGY, THEY GAVE THE LONG-DISTANCE DATING MODEL A SHOT. (WHICH PROVED TO BE A CRUCIAL LESSON IN PATIENCE). ( LONG STORY SHORT )
IT WENT LIKE THIS FOR ONE FULL YEAR:
REALIZING THEY HAVE LONG-TERM POTENTIAL (SO LONG DISTANCE WILL HAVE TO SHORTEN)
“REALLY?! I would love it!”
“What if I go to school in California?”
SO COURTNEY FLEW TO OREGON TO DRIVE THE 956 MILES BACK TO IRVINE WITH NOAH TO HELP HIM MOVE
CLOSER = BETTER FOR THE NEXT FIVE MONTHS, THEY DATED LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE DATE
Until one day ... ( (OVER 26,562 MILES & 497 DAYS AFTER THEIR FIRST)) Noah g got down on one knee and offered to love Courtney for all the rest of them
( applause )

JAMES & DIANE NYE invite you to join in the marriage celebration of their children
Agoura Hills, CA 100 ppl For my wedding I designed, produced and coordinated every detail involved from the basic event styling aesthetic to the graphics packages (save the dates, invitations, programs, signage, RSVP tags, placecards) to the floral design and arranging, as well as the cupcake look and dessert table. I made a schedule and time line of the day-of events with maps for my friend who was coordinating and settign up for me that morning. Vendor selection, activities and photoshoot scouting and styling were also elements of creating the consistent design aesthetic.
