Three August NGS open days at Elworthy Cottage Mike and Jenny Spiller’s well known one acre garden in a tranquil setting three miles from Wiveliscombe and 12 miles north of Taunton, has three NGS Open Days during August. The popular Somerset garden has been planted to encourage birds, bees and butterflies and has plenty of birdsong! The garden has wild flower areas with a decorative vegetable garden and a living willow screen. There are plenty of seats for visitors to enjoy the garden. The garden is attached to plantsman’s nursery which is open at the same time. Adult entry is £4 with children free. The three opening dates for the NGS during August are Sunday 11th, Monday 26th and Thursday 29th. Elworthy Cottage, Elworthy,Taunton TA4 3PX.

NORTH CADBURY CELEBRATES ITS 39TH SHOW North Cadbury and District Gardening Club is celebrating its 39th traditional annual show at North Cadbury Village Hall, on Saturday, 10th August opening at 2.30pm. The awards for all the show classes will be made at 3.30pm. Admission is by schedule on sale at North Cadbury Village Shop or ÂŁ1 at the door. The show classes includes vegetables and fruit, flowers, pot plants, floral arrangements, homecraft, handicrafts, painting and photography.

Wellington Flower show welcomes new entries Wellington Flower Show is set to welcome new exhibitors for its Summer Show on Saturday, 31st August in the ARC, next to the Princess Royal Sports Centre, South Street, Wellington TA21 8NT. The show which complements the April Spring Show has a record number of entries for the traditional exhibition classes last year and organisers are predicting another record in August. Closing date for entries is Wednesday, 28th August. Staging is on Friday evening from 5.30pm onwards and the show opens to visitors at 10am.

Three-day f lower show highlight of busy RHS Rosemoor month

The three-day Rosemoor Flower Show is one of the highlights of a busy August at the popular RHS Devon garden. The show runs from Friday, 16th August to Sunday, 18th August. The 65-acre site provides the backdrop for a summer show packed with floral displays, nursery and trade stands, gardening advice, food and live music. The highlights include the chance to explore Rosemoor’s newest garden, the Cool Garden which will be officially opened on Friday, Rosemoor’s new Cool 16th August. Designed by Jo Thompson, the new garden focuses on water, with rills and a Garden from the air tear-shaped pond, and demonstrates how gardens can help deal with heavy rainfall. Open from 10am to 5pm every day. The show is free with normal garden admission (RHS members go free). Early admission VIP tickets on Friday and Saturday from 9am for an additional £10 plus normal garden admission. RHS Garden Rosemoor, Torrington, EX38 8PH.
