In 2013, the CFDA identified a need to connect global graduating talent to our membership, so we created CFDA+ with the goal to provide visibility to creative capital from around the world. Since then, we have reviewed more than 1,000 portfolios, interviewed more than 600 recent graduates from 43 leading schools across 32 countries, and have spotlighted 245 graduates to a community of industry and education. Through these dynamic conversations, we’ve been privileged to gain not only a window into each designer’s personal identity, design process, and ethos, but also a first access view of the future of fashion. This year, we framed our questions openly, asking “I want to…”, “One wish I have for fashion’s future is...”, and “Future me will…”. The consistency of their answers netted to a narrative that underline the themes for 2017. Their voices created an empowered message of inclusivity, diversity, unity, and hope – with sustainability, technology, innovation, and culture mattering to the next generation now more than ever before. For our fifth year, we invite you to preview the power of “we” – 41 CFDA+ 2017 talents selected from 24 schools, who are unique in their creativity but share a collective zeitgeist – that we are all connected. CFDA+ is a curated platform to spotlight exemplary graduating talent. Selected CFDA+ 2017 Design Graduates receive a one-year profile-based showcase on CFDA.com, whose profiles are visible to the CFDA Membership community of 500+ leading American designers. Additionally, the CFDA is honored to continue its collaboration with Floriane de Saint Pierre’s Paris-based Eyes on Talents, which will generously spotlight CFDA+ and provide the talent with unique global exposure. The CFDA works to support and identify top-tier graduate and undergraduate talent from a global community of invited colleges.
