7117 Fairview Vista Drive Stonecroft | 8 Bedrooms| 6.2 Baths MLS #3236530 | $2,395,000 Lisa Rupp
This classic and stately home resides on one of the most incredible lots in Stonecroft. The property has a historic significance & the home was designed to tell the story. The land, once owned by an old Charlotte family, required a house which resembled a “country home looked to have been built around the turn of the century. The homeowner & Christopher Phelps worked diligently to design every detail & architectural element to reflect the era. As you enter the drive, the handsome brick pavers winds around in a circular pattern to meet a traditional, dramatic front covered entrance.

Now that you have been spending a little more time inside with the cool weather, how about making your master retreat more luxurious…or how about the coziest place on earth! We think we might be able to help achieve both! See what you think…
There is nothing better than having a plan when redecorating any room in your home, so why would your bedroom be any different. A good rule of thumb is to collect ideas & decide what’s your favorite look. Might we suggest the every popular Pinterest! We have a “Beautiful Bedrooms” board with some great ideas to get you started. While all of the inspiration rooms you find online are sure to be stunning, (I mean come on, you picked them yourself) it’s always a good idea to take pieces you really like from your inspirations and dream up a room that is ideal for you.
Once you have all the pieces to fuel your inspiration, it’s always good to take a few minutes to think about all the purposes of your master bedroom & will all your needs be met with the inspiration you have. For some, they really do want to coziest place on earth where they can curl up with a good book – maybe they should take into consideration not only really making their bed a soft spot to land, but also a possible sitting area, as an alternative. For others their bedroom might be their night-time getaway complete with a TV, so they can unwind & watch their favorite shows once the kids nod off to sleep. There are also other options like a more romantic space, a quiet study space and the list goes on and on. Consider all the options before you start to work on your new space.
about pieces that would help you obtain your purpose and perhaps the only rule in this entire article, make sure the furniture isn’t too big, overpower or that you have purchased too much for the room. You will want to make sure you can get around the room with ease.
Colors can often times be decided upon based on the purpose of your room & should definitely compliment everything you will have going on in the space. If you are thinking the worlds coziest room, you might want to consider neutral and inviting. For a romantic feel, maybe something softer with a little more pastel hue. Some people prefer neutrals while others like bold colors – the choice is up to you but really should add to the purpose and also to the next step, the theme.
With plan and purpose accounted for, it’s time to start working on the theme of your bedroom. (Your inspiration will really come into play here!) This is where you start to make sure everything all ties together — colors, textures, furniture lines, lighting and more. This is also where your personality really starts to come through! Your room should be a reflection of who you are, what you enjoy and a place to make your mark.
Measuring the room is the first step to furniture (or the right step, although I know we have all had those impulse buys or previous furniture.) Browse through your inspiration room for possible furniture options before we go out to look. There are several things to consider while you are shopping for pieces. Make sure you have enough storage for all your items, think
Lighting a room properly can completely change the entire look of a room. Make sure your room has plenty of lighting to suit your needs, but doesn’t overpower the room. Items to consider are lamps for your bedside table lamps (great for reading), a standing lamp if you happen to incorporate a sitting area and a desk lamp if this is a work/study space. The main light fixture will be a focal point, so choose wisely, and make sure it fits with the overall flow of the room. Here in the South, you might want to consider a ceiling fan to help control the temperature of your room. You can find plenty with overhead lighting, if needed for your space.
With all the other elements in place, this is where you tie it all together & really complete the final look. While so many think accents can make or break the room, the nice thing is that they are usually easy changes to make if things don’t turn out just as you would like them to. The best approach to accents is to make a list of everything you need prior to purchasing so that everything has it’s place and really blends. Accents you might want to take into consideration: Rugs / Curtains & Blinds / Linens (Duvet, Comforter, Pillowcases, Sheets) / Throw Blankets / Decorative Pillows / Wall Décor (Artwork, Mirrors or Clocks) / Lamps / Accessories (Candles, Picture Frames & Decorative Items)
We hope you have a great time making your master retreat a little more luxurious… or the coziest place on earth!
