LEAP Collaborative Integration Design Studio Knoxville, TN Fall 2011 The intent of this project was to design an office building for downtown Knoxville that would use passive techniques to aid in energy efficiency. With a LEED Gold certification, the office building uses a copper mesh screen to shade the façades of the building from the sun. Overall, the building has a small footprint that takes up less than fifty percent of the site. The building is designed as two volumes, one housing the primary workspace and the second housing the secondary workspace, with a bridge connecting the two. This design allows for half of the building space to be “shut off”. Ground level retail spaces engage the surrounding pedestrian heavy streets while also defining a public green space which follows a natural pedestrian shortcut through the block.

Teacher’s Dwelling Haiti Design Studio Fond-des-Blancs, Sud, Haiti Spring 2012 Collaborators: E. Corgan, E. Fike, & J. Moore Jean Thomas, the client in Haiti, commissioned our studio to plan a neighborhood in his home of Fond-des-Blancs, Haiti. As a class we designed a master plan for the neighborhood then we broke up into smaller groups to design the individual houses. This house is a dwelling for teachers from the L’Exode Secondary School right up the road from the site. Drawing inspiration from Louis Kahn, the design is symmetrical allowing for a consistent living arrangement for the teachers. The bedrooms share a bathroom at the two ends of the house which are situated around a large open living area housing the living room, dining area, and the kitchen. Drawing from the Haitian culture, the large living space opens to porches at the front and the back of the house. Interior Perspective of the living and kitchen area

Beaumont Center Architectural Design VIII Knoxville, Tennessee Fall 2012 Situated on the highest ridge in an impoverished Knoxville neighborhood, the Beaumont Center is a teaching kitchen, meal center, and community garden. The center acts as a surrogate home for youth in the surrounding community. Designed with youth in mind, the center is open for everyone. The intent of the design is to provide a secondary home for the community while also teaching them gardening and health skills. The parti of the design is reminiscent of an Italian street which connects the major spaces of the building then projects out into the landscape finally terminating at the butterfly pavilion. Each of the major programmatic elements also have large open spaces attached that help connect the building with the surrounding context.

Affinity FCU Design Made New Jersey Spring 2014 Affinity Federal Credit Union was the first project I worked on at Design Made. The client was interested in implementing a new experience for their members that to enhance the close relationships between members and employees. For this project, I acted as project manager. I started working for the firm after the schematic design had been finished, so I was in charge of completed the design development set. During this time I worked with representatives of multiple companies to get specifications correct, and in some instances worked with them on shop drawing approval. After design and construction documents were complete I supervised the millwork installation to make sure it followed the final documents.

SEFCU Design Made Albany, New York Fall 2014 SEFCU came to Design Made to design a lab branch for their new headquarters in downtown Albany. Their main points were to showcase next generation banking technologies and in branch technology interaction. During this project I worked from schematic design all the way through to the completion of the built branch. As a team, my colleagues and I brainstormed that ideas that went into this branch, the look, the technology, and the choreography of the SEFCU employees. I completed the drawing set and worked with the general contractor and millwork installers on shopdrawings, construction observation, and troubleshooting unforeseen circumstances. The project was an overall success and was the first project that I personally oversaw from beginnning to end.

ADDC Design Made Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Winter 2016 ADDC came to Design Made for their office expansion in Abu Dhabi. We collaborated with firms in England and Cyprus to design a two new office buildings with a branch as well as one Control Center building. During the beginning stages of schematic and design development I worked closely with my firm’s team under surpervision of our director to hash out the final exterior and internal design for the branch in each office building. For this project I acted as the project manager and kept track of all the work spread between the different firms. I worked closely with the engineering team to design the structure, facade, and facilitate code compliance. In the end, the building exceeded expectations of the client and was approved by the proper stakeholders.

Citizens Bank Design Made Northeast US 2015-2016 Citizens Bank was looking for a new customer experience, and came to us for our expertise. This was a full collaborative effort between our office our fabricator to work out a modular design that would fit the needs of the Client. While I was not project manager, I did help work through the design issues of using a modular system. I assisted with material selection and helped push the conceptual thoughts presented in the branch. I set up and assisted my colleague with completing the design development set that we presented to the client to construct a prototype branch. The design is currently being rolled out across the existing bank branches.
