SYMPOSIUM MUSICA INTERNATIONAL PRESENTATION

Jean Sturm

Saturday 21st April, 11.15am Doolan Room (217), CIT Cork School of Music, Admission: FREE of charge

Your Door to the Choral Repertoire of the World: MUSICA Musica (www.musicanet.org), an online Virtual Choral Library, is a powerful tool which is becoming the standard global database of the choral repertoire. It meets perfectly the needs of professionals as well as of all those looking for information (scores, publishers, composer biographies...). We will first demonstrate Musica’s userfriendliness: search tool for devising concert programs on a given theme, scores described in detail, multimedia links to text, translations, pronunciation sound files, video, etc. We will then present new services which offer full interactivity: managing online personal or library holdings within Musica (no need for local datafiles anymore), how composers, publishers, conductors and musicologists can cooperatively enrich the database. PRESENTER Jean Sturm is the designer of the Musica project, which is a synthesis of his various skills: conductor, scientist, manager... In 2014 he was awarded the rank of “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by the French Ministry of Culture, with special mention of Musica. More at http://allegro.musicanet.org/jsturm.htm
