MEDIA RELEASE 26 July 2012
Call for entries for 2012 ALUCA & TurksLegal Scholarship worth $8,000 The 2012 ALUCA & TurksLegal Scholarship is now open and ALUCA members are invited to lodge their entries for a chance to win a once in a lifetime overseas conference package to the value of $8,000. This year for the first time, entries to the Scholarship are open to ALUCA members regardless of their country of domicile. Now in its sixth year, the ALUCA & TurksLegal Scholarship provides a forum for ALUCA members to contribute their ideas on cutting edge issues affecting the industry‟s future. The Scholarship recognises excellence and professional growth as well as providing a great career development opportunity for those who participate. ALUCA and TurksLegal have been strong advocates of excellence in the Australian life insurance industry. TAL Limited‟s Managing Director, Jim Minto, is one of a number of leading industry figures on the judging panel and a keen supporter of widespread involvement by ALUCA members in the scholarship program. According to Mr Minto, “The life insurance industry has grown tremendously over the past 10 years. It has become more innovative and needs people with more specialised skills and thinking to match. Recognising this, ALUCA and TurksLegal are at the forefront of enhancing the skill-set and professionalism of the industry.” “I‟m so pleased to have been involved with the Scholarship for the past six years as a judge. It is a lifetime opportunity for the winner. Equally, participants will get a lot out of the experience and I encourage all members to submit an entry,” Mr Minto said. Entrants are asked to submit a paper – up to 2,500 words – addressing one of eight questions drawn from diverse topic areas pertaining to life insurance. Entrants can choose from a number of questions that are relevant to their industry background. Last year‟s winner, Andrew Prichard of BT Financial Group, attended the Eastern Claims Conference in New York. Andrew said, “I can only describe it as „the trip of a lifetime‟. It was such a valuable opportunity to attend seminars in the US and observe how different our two industries appear. Conference aside, the rest of the opportunities the trip provided were priceless – seeing New York and getting engaged in Central Park were just the beginning. None of these things would have been possible without the support of ALUCA and TurksLegal.” TurksLegal Level 44, 2 Park Street, Sydney NSW 2000; T: +61 2 8257 5700 Level 10, 459 Collins Street, Melbourne VIC 3000; T: +61 3 8600 5000 www.turkslegal.com.au
