Dear partners, On behalf of our Board of Directors, I am honored to share CoreGiving’s 2021 Impact Report with you.

Food insecurity is among the most pressing challenges our nation faces today; one out of every six children in the U.S. is going hungry. Many of these youngsters are likely to suffer from disadvantages in school and personal relationships, along with impaired physical and cognitive development. Sadly, the day-to-day instability of not knowing where their next meal is coming from also contributes to declining mental and emotional health. Believing that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, CoreGiving has pledged to address this disparity.

What began in 2016 as one organization’s commitment to end childhood hunger has evolved: we now link arms with nine Blackstone Real Estate portfolio companies and other corporate partners, as well as individual donors who support our mission.

Since its inception, CoreGiving has collaborated with 500+ donors to provide more than 14 million meals in partnership with 50+ food banks nationwide.

Collectively, these Blackstone Real Estate portfolio companies own 3,700 properties in 42 states, and our shared goal is to act as a catalyst for economic growth and prosperity in the neighborhoods where we operate. However, data confirms that this objective is only achievable if the youngest members of our communities have space to learn and grow. Anecdotal evidence tells the same story. In fact, when I volunteered at the Lakeview Food Pantry in Chicago three years ago, I met a single mother of four boys who had just completed a shift at one job and was then heading to work overnight at her second job. The food she was collecting in the meantime, would feed her sons for the week — I can still picture them sitting on the floor in the warehouse helping each other with homework. It was an eye-opening experience and to this day fuels me to want to do better for families in similar situations.

As COVID-19 continued to have an outsized economic impact on historically underserved communities, 2021 was a critical year for our campaign. Despite the challenges we all faced, CoreGiving managed to reach more children and families than ever before.

Our generous donors helped us raise $1.8+ million last year, translating to approximately 9+ million meals in 19 states.

CoreGiving remains dedicated to hosting programs that activate our network to raise awareness of how hunger affects children in every city and town in the United States, creating volunteer opportunities that benefit the communities we serve and inspiring fundraising. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the funds we raise is donated to food banks across the nation.

Looking ahead, we aim to raise $2.8 million in 2022, provide 14 million meals to hungry households, facilitate 10,000 hours of hunger relief volunteer service and significantly increase the number of communities we reach.
