HSE Approved First Aid at Work (FAW) Duration

This course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed to become a confident first aider at work, giving you both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

Who Should Attend?

Moving and Handling Load Management Duration

Description

This course gives an increased knowledge and understanding of the reasons for safe manual handling procedures, regulations and legislation, the need for manual handling risk assessments and how they relate to improving health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace. It also identifies the principles, types of equipment and testing associated with manual handling safety.

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for all staff in the workplace with the exception of people handlers, to ensure compliance with the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Examples might include an office setting, retail environment, manufacturing firm or factory.

Health & Social Care SVQ Level 2 Duration

3-6 months

Description

The SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is aimed at those working in the health and social care sector . This is a work based qualification that meets the requirements of the Social Care Sector in line with registration and regulation of the Social Care workforce and current occupational standards.

Who Should Attend?

The target audience for the SVQ in Health and Social Care are people who are support workers in care homes or care at home services for adults.

The SVQ in Health and Social Care at Level 3 is a requirement of the Scottish Social Services Council for people who are employed in the care sector in support worker roles.

Who Should Attend?

The target audience for this SVQ are individuals who often work without direct supervision, or on their own, perhaps in the service user’s home or care home.

The Intermediate Food Hygiene course provides an understanding of the relationship between food hygiene, food poisoning and food spoilage, the socio-economic costs of poor food hygiene and the role of HACCP and hazard analysis in ensuring food safety.

REHIS Advanced Diploma in Food Hygiene Duration

The REHIS Advanced Diploma in Food Hygiene provides detailed practical information and advice to assist employers, supervisors and employees to ensure food handling activities are carried out in a safe and hygienic manner.

Who Should Attend?

This course is aimed at middle and upper management and senior staff responsible for food safety and other relevant areas. The course is also a minimum requirement for those who wish to deliver REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene courses.

This course is delivered over 6 days in a formal setting on a day release basis. Guest presenters (who are specialists in their field) deliver on behalf of Cordia. Delegates must undertake 4 assignments which meet suitable criteria before being presented for their written and oral exam. There is a significant amount of background reading both during the course and in preparation for the exam.

Assessment

The written examination paper comprises of eight questions of which five must be answered. Question one is compulsory and the other four being the delegate’s choice. The questions have to be completed within three hours. This is followed by an oral question and answer session lasting approximately 20-30 minutes.
