McHard Road 16” Water Line and Roadway PER Progress this period: • • • • • • •

Attended monthly progress meeting. Prepared the AR for the Advance Funding Agreement for the roadway project to be included on the August 12, 2013 City Council Agenda for consideration. Continued conversations about diverting some of the flows to the south and downsizing the large cross drainage structures. Discussions have identified both pros and cons that will need to be addressed before a final design can be decided. Geotech investigation is complete and the final report is being prepared. Freese Nichols and GC Engineering are reviewing and addressing staff’s comments on the PER and will provide written responses before proceeding. The Phase 1 ESA has been revised and will be included in the next submittal. GC Engineering will finalize the Supplemental Drainage Report based on comments received from staff.

Planned activities for the period ending August 30, 2013: • • • • •

Prepare and attend a monthly progress meeting. Continue utility coordination. Begin surveying coordination. Receive revised Tech Memo from CDMSmith for review. Separate the Waterline and Roadway projects so that beginning in September they will be handled as two distinct projects.

Project Schedule: • • •

Project design is scheduled for twenty-four months. Waterline should bid early 2014. Design is on schedule.

Westchester Sidewalks and Drainage Project (cont.) Progress this period: • •

Attended progress meeting. Project has been suspended because the residents complained about the size and height of the inlets adjacent to their property. Staff, the design engineer, and the contractor have been working on an alternative solution to the large structures necessary to convey the water from the property.

Planned activities for the period ending August 30, 2013: •

Resume project schedule

Walnut Street Lift Station Progress this period: • • •

• •

Attended the monthly progress meeting. GC Engineering submitted 60% drawings. The overall footprint of the new lift station will encroach on the property line therefore, additional ROW will be required. Of particular concern is a structure that is very close to the property line and the construction of the lift station would be greatly hampered by it’s proximately. The additional acquisition of easement will allow the lift station to shift to the west, providing an additional buffer between the structure and the adjoining property to the east. Working with GC Engineering to determine the specific space requirements.

Planned activities for the period ending August 30, 2013: •

Receive appraisal for easements.

Project Schedule: • •

The design of the lift station is behind schedule. The construction phase is expected to take five months.

Contractor has worked through 95% of the punch list items. Most of the remaining items are due to material that has not arrived on site yet. Met with contractor and concrete floor seal vendor to discuss the unacceptable seal that was installed on the floors in the storage areas. It has been determined that re-sealing the floor will not resolve the discoloration issues. The contractor has been asked to credit the city for the unacceptable work and to provide a quote to install another finish on the floors. Staff has also asked for a quote from another contractor. The security system that was designed for the facility cannot be installed on two of the doors. The Sallyport door is too small (2’-6”) and cannot accommodate the door closer and the magnetic locking device. The alternative, strike plate will be installed on this door instead. The front door has the wiring for the handicap buttons overhead and therefore cannot Page 4 of 5

accommodate the magnetic locking device hardware. The contractor is investigating alternative devices for this door.

Fire and EMS Administration Building (Old PD Renovation) (cont.) • •

The renovation project did not include enough landscaping to satisfy the City’s screening requirement. Landscaping and additional irrigation have been added to the project. The installation should be complete by August 9, 2013. The facility’s staff needs additional Audio Visual work done to make the Training room more efficient. The vendor and contractor have provided quotes to complete this additional work which should be complete by the end of August.

Planned activities for the period ending August 30, 2013: • •

The remaining security system devices should be installed by August 9. Acquire certificate of occupancy.
