Lady Cougars finish first in Central Junior High League The first season is done with hopefully some learning experiences that were both fun and helpful for many of the student/ athletes here at Mt. Vista School. A goal for some might have been just to be a part of the team, whether it was to cheer from the bench or stands, or to give it your best whenever your name was called for game time. Our seventh grade girls volleyball team along with a sprinkling of ambitious sixth graders, gave it their best and ended the regular season in first place in the Central Junior High League. What that meant is that they would have to take their “A” game to Ray on Saturday, Oct. 19 for a

chance to bring home the Central Junior High School Tournament trophy! Their first game was decided in three sets with the Cougars advancing against a tough Globe Tiger team. The championship game put Mt. Vista up against a well playing Miner team from San Manuel. The Lady Cougars proved to have too much momentum going in and easily took the final game in two straight sets. The girls are proud of their accomplishment as being the `13-`14 CJHL Seventh Grade Volleyball Champions and will look forward to defending the title next year. A big thank you to all of the Lady Cougars supporters, friends, and family! Go Cougar Pride!

Raffle prizes were awarded, and Grand Marshal Marcia was complimented for her many years of service to SBCO. She has been a recording secretary, day manager at Kids’ Closet, statistician for youngsters visiting the closet, made tribute cards, and also ran the

annual Clothe a Child campaign. SBCO thanks everyone for making this a very successful event; sponsors, volunteers, Patrol, walkers, committee members, and even the papers for their willingness to help with publicity! Keep those sneakers ready for next year’s walk — after all, it is all about the kids. If you would like more information about SBCO go to our website: www. community-outreach.org.
