Hello, CECA Parents! It’s already October, and this year is in full swing. Are you ready for Fall? It is my family’s favorite time of year. The weekends are full of sports, and the television is full of football. But, I most enjoy the Halloween holiday with all of the pumpkin patches and fun it entails. Here at CECA, we are getting ready for our annual Fall Festival! It is our biggest event of the year. With all of the kids dressed up in their costumes, carnival games just for our little ones, and amazing face painting– it’s an event not to be missed. There are lots of fun things going on with CECA this month! We hope you plan to join us!

Hope to see you soon!

Your child’s coach. Your neighbor. A volunteer at your child’s school. He could be any of these and he could be watching your child, warming you and your family up to trust him, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. In Darlene’s case, he was her husband and wellknown, trusted member of the community. Darlene passionately presents insightful stories and critical strategies in protecting children to the “front lines” of child abuse prevention and intervention. It includes vital takeaways compiled from Darlene’s personal experience and psychological training. Our monthly Parent Events are a great chance to meet other parents and to hear some exceptional speakers talking about hot parenting topics. We serve hot coffee and delicious refreshments, and best of all… there is free childcare! Find out more and RSVP via the Evite!

Meet this Month’s Speaker Darlene Ellison

Author of The Predator Next Door Her charmed life as wife, mother, philanthropist and successful businesswoman spiraled out of control when she learned that the man to whom she had been married for over 10 years, and with whom she had children, was arrested as part of an FBI sting operation. He was revealed to be a long– time sexual predator of young boys both in the United States and other countries. Engulfed by a very public situation that left her emotionally paralyzed, Darlene made the choice to not just survive, but thrive! She overcame the humiliation, anger and fear to turn her experience into one that could help others. She eliminated the “elephant in the room” by talking openly and proactively about her situation with her children and, later, to concerned adults who wanted to learn from her experience. Darlene turned lemons into lemonade! As sole provider, Darlene made professional adjustments in her career to meet the emotional and physical needs of her children. darlene@darleneellison.com • DarleneEllison.com • Evolutionofshe.com
