WELCOME PETER COLLIVER to Stoney Point Performance Angus as the new Stud Manager. Peter grew up in the Cooke Plains, Coomandook area on a continuous cropping and sheep farm. He became interested in Beef production at the age of 14 and by the time he was 16 Peter had started his own South Devon stud which he pursued as a hobby for 8 years. In 2004 Peter completed an Advanced Diploma of Agriculture at the University of Melbourne’s Longerenong campus near Horsham in Victoria. In 2008 and 2009 he spent 20 months on an International Agricultural Exchange program spending 12 months on a cattle ranch near Vetran in Alberta Canada and 8 months on a veal farm near Store Hedding in Denmark. In 2010 Peter started working at Naweena Investments at Padthaway as a senior stock man, where they ran 2000 Angus breeding cows plus replacements with Autumn and Spring calving, producing 480kg to 550kg finished steers off grass

and artificial inseminating around 700 heifers a year. He took part in the purchasing of bulls from Stoney Point, Coorong Designer, Coolana, Barwidgee, Serita Park and Weeran. In 2014 Peter began working for Garry Hardwick (Hardwick’s Meats) as an overseer at one of his Keith properties, running 500 breeding cows and 1400 ewes. He continued to purchase bulls from Stoney Point. Peter has always been interested in genetics and the selecting, breeding and production of bulls and females to suit all markets of the ever changing and diverse cattle industry.

To simplify our operation and focus on delivering to our clients not only the best bulls but the best service, we have decided to have only one mating period each year (Spring) and sell bulls only in autumn. As a result we will conduct a complete dispersal of our Autumn herd on 1st December 2016 at Naracoorte. This will be a magnificent opportunity to acquire the very best genetics.

We are selling 4 lots of embryos by legendary bull Matauri Reality 839, Koupals B&B Identity and V A R Generation 2100 cross with outstanding females that will excel phenotypically and add genetics to your herd. For more information please visit the Angus Society website — Embryo Sale catalogue, the Stoney Point website or contact Peter Colliver 0428 723 640

SGMH22 IN COHORT 6 The Angus Sire Benchmarking Program (ASBP) objectives is to generate progeny test data on modern Angus bulls, validate and refine Angus Breedplan data and build a data base for genomic technology. Heineken H22 selected in 2015 as part of Cohort 6 Program is in the process of producing approximately 1,300 progeny with calving to commence in June 2016. Heineken is a CC&7 son that has been kept back to use in the herd, and whose sons display outstanding growth, excellent structural integrity, and awesome eye appeal. H22 is a bull that moves effortlessly across the ground for a bull with a bit of extra frame, has good bone and a big square hip. He exhibits great docility and is a fertility and carcase weight improver, in a moderate birth weight package. We have been very impressed with this bull and the sons and daughters that we have seen to date.

We have flushed a number of donor cows commencing at our Autumn 2017 sales to Hingaia 469, Generation 2100 and Koupals B&B Identity and we are transferring them in to recipients at 2 sites Calfcorp and ET Services. Some great genetics coming up for our clients.

SOME NEW SIRES We have imported exclusively from the US two main Sires that will be great addition to the Stoney Point herd. Koupals B&B Identity is a sensibly sized Upward son with as much muscle and stoutness of bone as you will find. He uniquely combines his power and performance with a high degree of smoothness, eye-appeal, and correctness of structure. Identity’s mother is widely regarded as one of the top donor dams in the Koupal Angus herd. She is feminine, perfect uddered, moderate framed, and easy-fleshing. Identity has a very gentle and easy-going disposition.

The ultimate aim for cattle breeding is to produce more quality meat. We pride ourselves on the thick muscled nature of our bulls. They are standouts in this regard and many of the processors have commented on this very important aspect of our cattle breeding program. However, you have to have the structure to support this traits and we do not compromise here.

Once again feedlot feedback results support the outstanding job our genetics are doing. Weight gains above industry standards but more importantly less breakdowns and succumbing to disease. Our cost of gain was spectacular.

OUR AI TECHNICIANS We are very reliant on our AI technicians and there is none better than David Plant from Southern Cross Genetics. We achieve outstanding results and get the good genetics into our progeny.

STRUCTURE Our great passion is the structure of our cattle and we leave no stone unturned to ensure every bull we put up for sale will do the job for our clients. Our bulls are assessed by Ian Moreland from Studcare Genetics.

OUR ET TECHNICIANS We have recommenced our expansive ET program and have flushed 9 donor cows. We use Mike Boerema at Embryo Transfer Services of South Australia and have also undertaken IVF programmes with unique Sires. The results have been very encouraging.
