Curriculum Vitae A BRIEF INTRODUCTION I am a hardworking and passionate student of architecture at the University of Waterloo. I hope to find employment over the summer months to build upon my enlightening past experiences and ever expanding know-how. Although I admit I have a lot to learn, I am always eager to attain new knowledge. I have some previous work experiences that have implemented my skills effectively, and I am confident that I will make a useful, pleasant, and inquisitive addition to your team.

Gained a foundational understanding of design methodologies and theories, and developed the ability to think and speak critically about ideas and proposals. Worked in group settings to develop projects in intense design charettes. Learned hand drafting techniques, as well as computer aided visual representation in Rhino, Revit, Autocad, and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

Winter, 2011 Read Michael Merrill’s “Louis Kahn on the Thoughtful Making of Spaces”, began to think differently about the spaces we inhabit.

GPA: 3.95

Researched and implemented a new digital review software package to streamline shop drawing reviews. Oversaw the tracking and review of shop drawings, including following up with contractors, consultants, and clients to ensure timely review. Assisted in the crafting of construction drawings in AutoCAD and Revit, including challenging details, sections, and drawing organization. Participated in design charettes and exercises.

2012

Spring, 2011 Winner, SAIT Student Residential Design Competition.

Developed a basic understanding of construction practices pertaining to small scale residential and commercial projects, particularily in the areas of building science, structural systems, sustainable design, and space planning. Navigated through the National Building Code as well as Calgary 1P2007 Zoning Bylaws in practical building applications. Developed proficiency in various Autodesk products including AutoCAD, Revit, and 3ds Max, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

2011

Summer, 2010 Travelled to Japan, experienced culture shock.

Summer, 2010 Subscribed to PRAXIS journal, became submerged in the world of architectural discourse.

I travel everywhere with my notebook in hand, sketching interesting scenes and buildings. I also like to experiment with making furniture and sculture, as well and painting in oils and acrylics.

Spring, 2010 3rd Place, CRHBA Student Home Design Competition.

STATION VILLAS Student Architectural Technolgist (Summer 2010) Assisted the project Architect in assembling construction drawings for a small scale condominium project in Victoria, BC using AutoCAD. Detailed the wood and light frame building, researching and implementing proper methods for insulating and weatherproofing in the coastal BC climate. Learned file structure and drawing organization in an office environment.
