CHRISTINA: Ask yourself some simple questions. 1. What am I trying to accomplish? 2. Do I need a touch up or an extreme makeover? 3. What will give me the most bang for the buck? 4. What am I seeing in new homes in my area? Asking these types of questions will help guide you in setting a budget and determining the most impactful things you can do. KCHS:

CHRISTINA: Adding curb appeal to you home doesn't have to break the bank. Paint is one of the easiest ways to make a big impact to your home. Make a statement with a colorful front door, good contrasting trim or by adding shutters. Removing old overgrown overcrowded landscaping and replacing it with new will have an immediate impact on your home’s appearance. KCHS:

CHRISTINA: Lighting. Make sure that your outside lights are up to date. Having lights that are too small for the house is a common mistake. Strategically placed landscape lighting can highlight your home’s best features. KCHS:

CHRISTINA: Drive around your area and make notes of what you like and dislike. 2. Purchase magazines and or consultant online resources like Pinterest or Houzz. 3. Interior designers or landscape designers can provide ideas, inspiration and knowledge. KCHS:

CHRISTINA: My checklist in priority would be fixing the highest visibility areas first. 1. Painting

2. Landscaping

3. Lighting

4. External hardware –– does everything match and does it fit the style of your home? 5. Structural –– do you need to make some larger investments like garage doors or driveways? KCHS::

CHRISTINA: Picking the correct paint scheme. You may love purple but choosing to paint your home that color may not be the best choice. Consider paint colors that have broad appeal. Trim and garage door can make a large impact on your home. When picking a trim color avoid colors that are too similar to your base color. You want a nice, but not too stark, contrast.
