Trends in 2018/Outlook for 2019 Content investment is on the rise from movies to dramas, and the production of Korean dramas in particular is picking up steam. In addition, increased OTT/ IPTV rights have emerged as increasingly important components to the deal. A+E Networks is the only global network running both Korean and pan-Asian platforms and is planning to speed up its role as a bridge to each country through the increased production of hugely popular Korean content across both scripted series and factual entertainment.

Trends in 2018/Outlook for 2019 “With new VOD platforms across the region bringing a new dynamic to the market, we have expanded the breadth of our sales this year. We have had very good success with drama, including White Dragon on FOX ASIA, Rellik on HBO, Liar on BBC and Midsomer Murders on ITV. Our lifestyle series such as Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back has been really well received, as have our other cooking and travelling shows. The biggest growth we are expecting for 2019 is for the local production of our formats. We have currently 8-12 formats in development across the region that should be on air in 2019.”

Miracle Workers Based on Simon Rich’s book, What in God’s Name, this seven-episode limited series turns the perception of heaven on its head while also making the case that humans are worth saving. Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi executive produce and star alongside Karan Soni (Deadpool) and Geraldine Viswanathan (Blockers). Radcliffe plays Craig, a low-level angel responsible for handling all of humanity’s prayers. Buscemi plays Craig’s boss, God, who has pretty much checked out to focus on petty hobbies. To prevent Earth’s destruction, Craig and fellow angel Eliza (Viswanathan) must answer a seemingly impossible prayer: help two humans, Laura and Sam (played by Sasha Compere and Jon Bass), fall in love.
