CURB ROLLER Lynx Modular Roller Screed

Curb Roller Debuts Lynx Modular Roller Screed at World of Concrete in Vegas

Curb Roller Manufacturing, a leader in shaped concrete roller screeds, introduced its first modular screed system, the Lynx Screed.

This versatile alternative to completing flatwork provides a series of linkable screed pipes to accommodate concrete pours in varying widths from 3 to 22 ft. Unlike traditional roller screeds, the Lynx modular system removes the need for purchasing dedicated pipe lengths to offer easy adaptability for a multitude of pours, according to the manufacturer. Its aluminum design decreases strenuous set up, shipping costs and transportation requirements for jobs that call for longer pipes.

Curb Roller Manufacturing highlighted the Lynx Screed, along with other products and technologies, at booth World of Concrete in June.

“Screed adaptability and efficiency have been two of the biggest obstacles for concrete contractors’ productivity,” said Seth Ulmer, Curb Roller Manufacturing sales manager.

“With our Lynx Screed, contractors can work on pours ranging from a 22-foot-wide street to a 5-foot-wide sidewalk in the same day with just a few sections of pipe that can fit in a standard pickup.”

The Lynx modular screed system, compatible with the manufacturer’s Eel and Batt screeds, is available in two packages. Package one consists of three 7-ft. pipes and package two contains a 5-, 7- and 9-ft. pipe. The system also can be customized to include any 3-, 5-, 7- and 9-ft. length combination up to 22 ft.

In addition to more versatility over standard roller screeds, the Lynx Screed offers greater ease of use and reliability compared to other modular systems on the market through its quick and secure field assembly design, according to the manufacturer. The Lynx pipes are easily aligned and connected with three separate bolts and a centering ring.

The operator simply places the centering ring between two pipes, securely seating them together. From there, the cut outs at the pipes’ ends allow the operator to easily insert three bolts, securing the pipes together by tightening the nut. With this setup, users don’t have to retighten their pipes midjob or worry about unthreading when changing screeding directions.

The Lynx Screed system eases maintenance and setup by using different size nuts and bolts, 9/16 and 11/16, enabling contractors to use a single, common wrench set for assembly

With the Lynx Screed, crews can adapt to various sized concrete pours faster than non-modular systems, which require custom ordering dedicated pipe lengths. Additionally, the Lynx Screed eases logistics challenges for jobs requiring pipe lengths up to 22 ft. Curb Roller Manufacturing’s Lynx Screed comes in two packages that consist of three 7-ft. length pipes or 5-,7- and 9-ft. length pipes. The screed can also be customized to include any length combination up to 22 ft.

and disassembly. The Lynx setup is completed by bolting drive and static heads to the assembled pipe’s ends and then connecting to Curb Roller Manufacturing’s electric Eel Screed or battery-powered Batt Screed. “Until recently, those looking for flexibility were stuck with cumbersome A-frame screeds or expandable roller screeds that require constant retightening or special tools,” said Ulmer. “With our stable connection points, customers can quickly assemble and complete the job — no hassle, no holdups.” For more information, visit www.curbroller.com.  DOBBS EQUIPMENT

Blake and Mimi Freeman voice their appreciation for their staff and crew members at the event.

Discussing the new LeeBoy paver delivery (L-R) are Bryce Davis, sales director, LeeBoy; Adam Tschetter, president, Dobbs Equipment; Blake Freeman, COO, Asphalt 365; Mimi Freeman, CFO, Asphalt 365; Paulo Carlini, commercial account manager, Dobbs Equipment; and Matt Essig, Orlando general manager, Dobbs Equipment.

Blake Freeman said that Mimi owns and runs the company, and that her compassionate leadership is appreciated by family and non-family members alike.

“Her leadership bleeds through all of us in the company,” he said.

The Raised On Blacktop story resonated with Blake and Mimi and they went “all in,” even to the point of painting all company vehicles and machines in the Raised On Blacktop signature colors.

Asphalt 365 just celebrated 22 years in business. The company started with one paver and now has four. They just bought two new LeeBoys: one wheeled version and one tracked.

“Our business keeps coming back to LeeBoy,” Blake Freeman said. “This Raised On Blacktop machine has been here for two weeks and this is the first time I’ve touched it. We hid it inside, so no one would see it. I haven’t even been in the seat.

“My guys are more important than the money we could have made today. We do an event like this every 90 days for our staff, not to this extreme, but every 90 days we shut down and I spend time with these guys. We bring in food, they openly bring solutions and issues to our attention, and we learn. Instead of top down, we’re the opposite. We take their ideas, their solutions, and we try to implement them.

“I remember being on crew every single day and now I’m trying to teach all of these guys what I’ve learned. First on the list of our company’s core values is to be helpful. It has nothing to do with making money, just be helpful. The rest will line up. You need to have fun and give 110 percent. After all, we’re here more than when we’re with our own kids. We hire people that share our core values. Our staff and crew aren’t afraid to bring up problems and solutions. We put everything on the table and we implement any ideas that can help the entire organization.”

As a commitment to the mantra held by Matt Stanley and his family, everything done and branded at Asphalt 365 will now be based on the Raised On Blacktop colors. Freeman said that he took the LeeBoy color chip and sent it to Ford for them to match for his new company trucks going forward. Any machine coming in will now be switched to the new color scheme. Getting ready to unveil the new paver purchase (L-R) are Matt Stanley, American Paving Specialists, Danbury, Conn.; Blake and Mimi Freeman, Asphalt 365; and Brian Hall and Bryce Davis of LeeBoy.

A terrific catered lunch was served and despite a few drops of rain the event was a huge success.
